Hovadipo Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 FH never built a consistent high level winner thoigh. 12-6 isn't gonna get it done here in conference. He didn't really give himself much time to do that. He was there for 5 years and the 1st year was rebuilding a pretty bad team. His 2nd year he took ISU to the tourney for the first time since 2005. Not much of a sample size. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I'm not sold on Hoiberg although I do think he'd be an upgrade. His departure from Iowa State has some interesting undercurrents. Feathery Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Looks like Stevens has been approched and has said no. (Per an insider on another IU board). Was a longshot but at least this should put to bed the Stevens to IU dream. That shadow can move away and we can find a quality coach. ALASKA HOOSIER, Alford Bailey, Stuhoo and 3 others 6 Quote

Cant see a scenario where Stevens to IU plays out this year. Quote
Alford Bailey Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Natives are getting restless in Lexington. Some are getting tired of the basketball factory. Saw Bennett and Sean Millers name floated around, lol. I offered Crean. No takers yet. Hoosierfan2017, thebigweave, HoosierAloha and 4 others 7 Quote

Hoiberg wouldnt have those issues here. The knock on Hoiberg is he didnt get it done with talent but that AD was a serious handicap to the program. Moving up the list. 8bucks 1 Quote
yogisballin Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I want us to beat Purdue as long as it doesn't save Creans job. If you told me that would be enough I would gladly lose our next 8 gamesI'm in the same boat as brass on this. I'd be happy with it! I've been in and out this season since UNC game. And I've always been a gotta watch every second of an IU game type fan! He should be gone anyway but losing those next 8 would ease my mind on what Glass would do. If that makes sense?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Just saying, crazier things have happened. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Carson Harris the head coach at Marian U. in Indianapolis has resigned effective the end of the season. Someone needs to forward the job posting to CTC. He wouldn't even have to relocate and could make the 'easy' commute from Bloomington to Indy. yogisballin and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

We currently have a head coach. He's smart enough to know that if he says yes, 1. It would be leaked immediately and IU fans would have a field day and 2. He also knows that we currently have a coach, and by saying "yes" we'd fire Crean instantly. I think it amounts to what his goal in life is. Is it to win an NBA championship? Or is it to coach at IU and win a championship here? No one will ever know unless we actually fire Crean first. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
bigrod Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I know someone who spoke to Stevens at a game. Now this was last year at about this point in the season when IU was doing better than expected. I don't remember exactly how he approached the question, but he asked him about his interest in IU. He flat out said he had absolutely no interest and that we had a good coach. So this is my question: Is that just something coaches say? There is no way he can truly believe that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I'm not saying that he flat out lied. I'm just saying literally what else could he possibly say? Imagine if he says he would love it. With the Celtics fanbase and ours it would be a madhouse. He respects the game and people if he has those convos it will be behind closed doors. For maybe only a handful of people if that. U dont talk up any job when you have one already. Good way to lose respect from the circles of sports.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app HoosierAloha and 8bucks 2 Quote

These people aren't going to come out and blast Crean publicly, they stand to get nothing out of it. What would Brad get by saying he'd love to take the IU job after he just had a game. Plus I have never heard a coach publicly downplay a team. In tv interviews or any interview everything is always "that's a great team" "that's a good team" "they've got a really good coach" etc.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Hoosierfan2017, Napleshoosier, KingPG21 and 2 others 5 Quote
