Coach K pedigree. Number of Coach K pedigree coaches have also had questionable coaching episodes - Quinn Snyder and Chris Duhon. I'm not convinced coaching pedigrees are that big of a deal in basketball. After all, Tom Izzo's a pretty darn coach and look what we've got. Alford Bailey, Ryno6284, LIHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

He could bring along disGrace-on Allen as team trip coordinator. ;) GloryDays, HoosierAloha, Hovadipo and 3 others 6 Quote
bigrod Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Glass will only extend him if he sees the program moving in the right direction. It isn't. This is the best we will be under our schizophrenic coach. He has shown he can't handle any kind of success. It goes to his head and he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and won't listen to anyone. If the coach accepts turnovers, poor defense, poor offensive movement, and unintelligent play, the team will readily accept it. Like it or not, the history is there. The same faults show themselves every year. Like it or not, his teams are a direct reflection of him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app HoosierAloha 1 Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 If Crean is fired at the end of thos season, this is the order of the guys I would make a run at.1. Stevens 2. Donovan3. Jay Wright4. Marshall5. Hoiberg6. Miller, ARCHIE7. Holtmann8. Mack9. Nored10. Enfield11. Leonard Hamilton12. Alford (some won't like but he is number 11 for a reason and at this stage if we got here not much better around. He has been on a roll in recruiting as well.) I would work from the top down and see what happens. Don't move to the next until told no.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app CrossboneIU22 and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Added Jay Wright late which makes the Alford number 11 statement messed up. I would almost switch Archie & Hoiberg but Hoiberg was becoming a great college coach before he left. Anyone think Dana Altman as a candidate as well?Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
mdn82 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 1. Stevens2. DonovanJust so fans could move on. 3. Holtman4. Tony Bennett5. Archie MillerWe shouldn't have to go beyond those 3 realistic choices.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI really like Bennett, but I worry about being too much like a Wisconsin type. Conference titles. Consistent. But not able to adjust to different types of opponents in tournament. They seem to only win one way. They are really good at that one way, but that limits tournament success imo. 8bucks Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Heard Mike Decourcy on the radio on way home. They were talking about Pitt and how they thought Dixon was not good enough even though he went to the NCAA tournament something like 10 out of 13 yrs. he said that sounds pretty good about now especially for Pittsburgh. They have no real history and no recruiting base. He then went on though to say that at Pittsburgh that is good enough but at places like Indiana, going to the tournament 10 out of 13 years and no final fours is would probably not be considered good enough. Not with the history and recruiting base Indiana has. Most of the discussion was on schools like Pitt and Texas and whether their coaching changes were good ideas. The Indiana comment was just something he mentioned off hand but for those who think Indiana fans are delusional about high expectations and our capabilities - Decourcy sees it the same way. I think both schools needed to make a change, but both made a mistake. I have been very vocal about Shaka Smart. He is a one trick pony. He will have a career similar to Crean's if he lasts long there.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER and CrossboneIU22 2 Quote
