Uspshoosier Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 It was only one game. Saw parts of the win at Wisconsin but not enough to focus on Collins. A win there alone is impressive. Need to see some Dayton games but I always seem to miss those. Next Friday 9 on espn2 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Uspshoosier Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 True, but neither would assistant to Tom Izzo and we want the latter out of Bloomington on the first thing with wheels. Good point. Collins is a son of a coach from a family tree of a hall of famer and has been around the game and played the game at a high level( one advantage crean does not have , anyone else see him shoot foul shots in Maui. Yikes). Collins might be the next big coach or he might be the next to be hot and flame out. Besides a couple of candidates there is going to be risk with the next hire Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Alford Bailey, thebigweave, Hoosier82 and 1 other 4 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Besides Bennett, Stevens and Billy D there is going to be flaws with any of the coaches we go after. If there was a perfect candidate he is probably at a major school already or NBA. Marshall may be the closest thing to a sure thing. His sure thing just means we are good doesnt mean we would ever be great so still a lot of risk even with him. Shaka was the cant miss coach not to long ago and texas looks horrible now with 2 mcdonalds all americans in their lineup. After the top 3 Archie & Collins are my favorites.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app I wouldnt call Shaka a can't miss hire before Texas. There were a lot of people saying his system was a gimmick and wouldnt translate. We are seeing now that might be true. Its only his 2nd year but its not looking good. Guys like Collins and Miller will be risks for sure. I have looked up both their defensive efficiencies for their career and they both have put up top 30 defenses multiple times. I was actually shocked to see NW have multiple top 30 defenses. I thought at best they would be 70-80, well bc they are Northwestern. Lol Id give both those guys a shot over Crean. Yogi's Picnic Basket and thebigweave 2 Quote
schoosier Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Coca Cola Roy putting one on Bennett. I did see a timeout followed by some free throws so much better than our current. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Does he continue to have NW looking decent or do they turn back into a pumpkin at midnight? I liked the little bit I saw of him, granted the other coach in that game was Crean. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

MikeRoberts Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Collins and Miller are better coaches than Crean. Archie took a team with nobody over 6"6 to the Elite 8. And didn't need Dwayne Wade to do it. Sent from my SM-G935P using BtownBanners mobile app I've seen others post this as a positive before but this seems like more of a red flag to me than a positive. Why did he have a high school size roster? Injuries perhaps? Give me a break! If crean ever had a starting lineup, let alone an entire roster with nobody over 6'6"people would be pissed including myself for poor roster management Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Even after that, he made the dance and still advanced. Thats why its viewed as a positive. He didnt sacrifice the integrity of the program and coached up his team.
