Still, how many of you truly believe he gets fired after this season? Unless something dramatic happens, I say it less than a 5% chance. I do think it's unfair to say that the "injury excuse" has no merit. IU is down 2, maybe 3, starters from the preseason and appears Morgan and Davis are less than 100%. Not even the '96 Bulls are gonna just shake off losses like that. Do I think he gets fired? No. Should he? Resoundingly, undeniably, yes. An extension will surprise me less than a firing though. If we extend the fanbase is going to blow a gasket. While I'll understand why said gasket will be blown, as long as the extension is for "recruiting optics" only and doesn't affect our financial commitment to CTC, that'll be okay, I guess. And thats the difference this year vs a couple years ago. Glass pretty much has to make a move one way or the other. Which is why I think there is a better chance for a firing this time. triple Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I don't see a firing scenario. I think it comes down to a very quiet search and verbal agreement being handled behind the scenes. Once that happens, I think Glass will give Crean unofficial notice and 1-3 months to 'pursue other options'. That's a win-win in that it will avoid a buy-out and allow Crean to leave voluntarily, versus being fired. Once he announces he's leaving, it will come to light that we have a target candidate and the official agreement/negotiations will go quickly. Glass will tell him next January to start looking. We'll be searching for new coach by December .Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

If 2/3 of them leave, I think he's done. Glass is smart enough to realize next year will be another wasted year if that happens. I think Glass gives him one more year based solely off injuries this season and Big Ten championship and coach of the year last season. Recruiting is part of his job so missing out again on Indiana stud Wilkes and others, a true point guard like Waters , leaves the cupboard pretty bare for the immediate future. With that being said I will be shocked if he gets an extension and Is the coach of IU basketball after next season. Quote

TheWatShot Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I think Glass not extending Crean after last season says he still wasn't sold and wanted to see sustained success. He knows what happened after the first Big Ten title and wanted to see if Crean could avoid that this time…and he isn't. Quote

Feathery Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I dont think Crean gets an extension. If Stevens says yes, Crean is gone. If Stevens says no, i dont know. Id still make a change but not sure what will happen. Worst case scenario is Crean gets a final year next year, but i could also see him bailing before being forced out, a la Buzz Williams. Quote

Next year will be a waste if he stays. I could see him leaving on his own. Without an extension recruiting is dead.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk ALASKA HOOSIER and Hoosierfan2017 2 Quote

IUHAHN81 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Not to mention, it's almost a guarantee that some poor kid is gonna have a season ending injury at some point next season anyway with the way our luck goes. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
