TrueHoosier62 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Much as I'm happy to see IU as releived as a sailor at Madame Sophie's house of a thousand tissues; I'm still not convinced about Freddie Glass' abilities. 1.) Who does he bring in to replace Crean? What if he brings in another mid major turd? 2.) Did Glass actually fire Crean of his own accord, or were his balls so firmly caught in a Trustee's vise that he had no choice? These and other interesting questions are yet to be answered. Brass Cannon Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Always get anyone we want? That how we ended up with Crean? I was on fence with Crean, I think the minimum standard should be to reach Tourney every year. I just can't help to think back to a Coach we had named Mallory, who won and had success, yet IU wanted Rose Bowls...we are still working out of that decision. I saw the "A" rated list on CBS. Alford- just no way, that aint happening. Marshall, Miller, Holtman, Bennett, Drew and Cronin. Those are A list Coaches? Not in my opinion, they look about similar to CTC. I don't think IU can sway a Self, Calipari, Williams type and that is really what the fan base wants. We have a program that will most likely be depleted by the start of next year, we now are behind most other programs in recruiting and the Coach will be expected to win right away or feel the wrath. Going to take a brave man to step into that. Regardless, the program has been dealt it's hand and I honestly hope it's just me needing to start taking meds...I just have a feeling we got a bumpy few years ahead of us, considering we won the Big Ten last year. Go Hoosiers The previous administration botched that horribly. We wanted somebody who had been to a final four that the search firm had ties to. Drastically limited our pool. A program like IU shouldn't be using those middlemen to pick candidates. Tom White, thebigweave and Alford Bailey 3 Quote

Hoosier Guy Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 He was never the right coach for IU but I've always respected Mike Davis. That man just gets it, and I hope he continues to have success at Texas Southern. I've always respected Mike Davis as well. The way he had that 01-02 team playing that March was incredible. I loved that team. I wasn't even 8 years old and I remember all of it. Texas Southern gonna take down UNC tomorrow HooHooHoo22, Alford Bailey, FloridaHoosierGirl and 4 others 7 Quote

HoosierTrav Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Another thing from that presser... Glass absolutely KILLED it. I usually hate press conferences because it's all scripted BS, but that was real. Great second step of the process right there. In the words of Joel Embiid...trust the process. Hands down the most candid and honest Glass has been. He gave me a ton of confidence and excitement. I fully expect our next coach to be a grand slam (Donovan). Looking forward to having a united fan base for once in my life. Edit: for those of you who think Glass is actually going to hire an Indiana guy from Indiana, I think you should reconsider your position. He is just saying that to appease the faction of alumni who would like him to go in that direction. No way Fife or Alford are the next coach. He all but eliminated them with other comments. IU fans will be getting a healthy dose of the D......Billy D that is. Trish, Alford Bailey, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote
Popular Post Yogi'sBicep Posted March 16, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 16, 2017 Bad decision in my opinion, but I wasn't consulted. A guy wins two conference championships in four years, then has a .500 season with two major injuries and gets fired. That's not a school I would pursue if I could pick and choose where I wanted to go. I only hope our recruits will still come and our returning players don't transfer en masse. My opening-line money is on Alford to be our next coach although we've snubbed him twice in the past. With his kid graduating UCLA, he might want to come home. Stevens has said he's staying with the Celtics, and why Bennett would want to leave the more prestigious ACC for the faltering Big Ten (for anywhere other than his alma mater Wisconsin) is beyond me. That doesn't leave many great candidates unless somehow we can woo Billy Donovan...and I'll be surprised (pleasantly) if that happens, but I don't expect it. I'm taking a preliminary guess that the cup is always half empty in your eyes, or you're a sophomore at Purdue Milldawg12, pappy1865, Dalton26 and 6 others 9 Quote

Hoosierfan2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Another bright point.. I see Devonte Green staying now. There always seemed to be a disconnect between him and Crean. I think Green wanted to play at IU but didn't like the guy he was playing for. Str8Hoosiers, CrossboneIU22, Milldawg12 and 1 other 4 Quote

Cause Marshall hasn't sniffed High D1 conference level He spoke of anger issues etc. took him out as well. Took Archie out w/ high D1. All signs point to William D. KingPG21 and pappy1865 2 Quote
