Alford Bailey Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Ive just never felt the logistics of getting a playoff bound NBA coach to IU could work. You cant wait til May IMO. Quote

If it wasn't his first year there then he would be a stronger candidate but most these guys arent his kids. I love Mike White and not all their roster is his but he has a top 5 defense in the country and his offense isn't too shabby either. Both these guys should be drawing more attention no doubt. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Agree with you completely on White. Terrific coach. The thing Underwood's teams do so well is constantly work their stuff until it creates the matchup they want. Then they're disciplined enough to just hammer it until the other team is forced to make a change. I'm telling ya, watch the OSU-ISU game on Thursday. Prohm's a legit guy and ISU can certainly win it, but I guarantee you it'll look like he's a step behind Underwood the entire game. thebigweave, Yogi's Picnic Basket and Btownclouds 3 Quote

JSHoosier Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 The poster that said there was a meeting, then said it was a no, was asked why and didn't respond that I saw. I checked Flightaware briefly and didn't really see anyou flights in or out of Bloomington that made much sense for something like that; some prop planes and a jet registered to Bank of America. Popular Post Dalton26 Posted March 8, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2017 I'm calling BS that a meeting happened today. There is no reason Donovan's agent would've had a meeting just to say no. Yogi's Picnic Basket, pumpfake, thebigweave and 9 others 12 Quote

He said timing was bad for Billy. I took it as either due to NBA playoffs or only 2 years at OKC. Quote
HoosierD Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but for those of you who like Mike White, his head assistant (Dusty May) is a former IU manager and grew up 20 min from Bloomington. I doubt that means anything in terms of IU hiring Mike White, but just a little fun fact. thebigweave and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
JSHoosier Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Just to add, a meeting doesn't have to be in person, they can be done remotely because we do it all the time at work. BGleas 1 Quote

I just think we all need to step back on these pieces of info coming out. I do believe that these insiders have connections, but what is the probability that these connections have access to the real information? I think it's slim. You might know a guy in the athletic department that thinks he knows stuff, but unless that person is behind closed doors with Glass and the real players, then they're just picking up bits and pieces. And if you are behind the closed doors, you're not spreading around that info. Just as likely that IU met with Billy's agent, is that the insiders connection had it wrong the agent meeting today was with Crean's agent, not Donovan's. pumpfake, AKHoosier and VO5 3 Quote

I doubt that means anything in terms of IU hiring Mike White, but just a little fun fact.I think I may be the only one pushing for him lol. That is good news for me though. He has a top 5 defense and we all keep saying how we want a defensive guy, but no one wants him. I get most think he stays at UF till Coach K retires and he doesn't have the tourney numbers YET. I just think he could be our guy. I do like Underwood too. He has really made Evans a lot more effective with the ball. Would like to see him have a few more of his guys first though. HoosierTrav Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Does Crean HAVE to move right in to another position? Nothing wrong with taking a year off. Sure he can afford it.Technically he could owe the university a large sum if he were to try and pass up gainful employment. Quote
