Jeff_Boy_Ardee Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Haven't heard much about Mack from Xavier but I think I would add him to the list to at least take a closer look at. Only one season with less than 20 wins, Three sweet 16s. Not been as good since they moved to Big East, but as I've said before, I honestly think we will be with Crean for a few more years until we know we are getting who we want. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, gives us more time to "scout" all these coaches on everyone's list to see if they continue to improve and Creans buyout will continually lower. Obviously Stevens is the number one and number two and number three. But IMO I think it is looking less likely, he is doing very well at Boston with lots of future picks so he can finally begin to shape that team in to his. I think I will begin to pay closer attention and root for some of these other potential coaches on everyone's lost and get more enjoyment from cheering them on then watching the disaster the Crean has put on the floor. ( I will still be watching and root of the Hoosiers on, don't get your panties in a bunch). LazOffTheBench, hoosierpap and ThompsonHoosier 3 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Bad time to throw this name out as he isn't having a great year but Thad Matta would likely come and would be a huge upgrade. Before you bash, take a look at his accolades, very impressive He also has connections to the Indiana AAU scene... I would be okay with Thad Matta as a bridge until we get Coach Stevens. Quote
Iufan2324 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Alford? Not just no, but h-e-double-hockey-sticks no. He's really not an improvement over Crean as a coach. Fife needs more seasoning, but I really wanted him as an assistant. Miller is intriguing. I'm not quite sold on him yet, but I liked how his teams played the little bit I've seen of Dayton. Thibodeau is probably staying in the NBA IMO, but yeah he'd be an improvement. Lue doesn't have any head coaching experience at all. Stevens, well that is the dream. Absolute perfect fit here and calling him an improvement over Crean is like calling the Grand Canyon a slight crack. Thibs doesn't have a job and makes his players play defense. Fife I'm not sold on either but I think he would be better than Crean and has an IU background. Tyron lue has been an assistant for many years, played in the NBA, and has coached the top players in the world. He could get recruits and all coaches/commentators rave about how he is deserving of a coaching job. A lot of the good NBA assistants are better than the low tier teams head coaches. Quote
AZ Hoosier Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Seth Greenburg talked about Tom Crean for about 3 minutes during the Duke game saying that Tom Crean has done a great job at Indiana and it is unfair the heat is receiving. "Mob Mentality." He's entitled to his opinion. Even it he's dead wrong. GloryDays 1 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 We keep playing the way we started this season, Crean's health will concern me. Already an ungodly amount of stress and the pressure cooker will intensify. GloryDays and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

JSHoosier Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 @Janitorinthegym: Another 4 hour day for #iubb ...no rest for the weary #exhausted Likely doing push-ups, running suicides, and shooting 3's! You forgot Crean saying "Run! Run! Run!" and 16 would be turnovers later "Push it! Push it! Push it!". NRT137 and MikeRoberts 2 Quote

For ye of little faith, how would your opinion of CTC change if we beat Duke 90-80 in this next game?i would be ecstatic about the win but it wouldn't change my opinion of Crean. A win over Duke is exiting but we have had other big wins in Crean's tenure. It's not the lack of big wins in the regular season, it's the chronic losses to Northwestern and no tourney success and the end of year slide that always happens that is the problem southsidehoosier, Hoosier DaDa, HoosierTrav and 11 others 14 Quote

I want Crean gone like everyone else, but I just don't see who else we will hire that would be a home run. I'm just afraid that if we don't get Stevens (which I feel that we won't), we will make a hire of who's the best an average pool of who wants to come. A lot to play out, but the next hire HAS to be a home run. AZ Hoosier, Parakeet Jones, Naturalhoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

LazOffTheBench Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 IMO, Chris Mack should be on the list of possible replacements. Yeah, I've been thinking a lot about him lately. Xavier's win against Archie Miller's Dayton team yesterday was impressive. Still wish we had gotten Bluiett. Dang. Alford Bailey, WayneFleekHoosier, Jeff_Boy_Ardee and 1 other 4 Quote

I can't really think of one. At Michigan for outright big 10 but really we should win that game. But he does usually get us that feel good win and then let us down later. If we don't get that win what quality win will we have going into big 10 if notre dame keep losing Quote
