recker222000 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 That is the motto of this program until proven otherwise. I was clearly wrong predicting this one. By the time I got home we we're down 22. Next year is going to be ever worse.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Defenserocks28 1 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 How do we Hoosier basketball fans make Glass understand how angry and frustrated we are with Tom Crean and his totally inadequate preparation, his stupefying substitution patterns, his inability to teach fundamentals and his absolute failure as an in-game coach and motivator? Crean's brand of basketball is laughable, and I am done supporting it. I've stopped supporting the school with my funds, and have put my IU shirts, sweatshirts and hats in deep storage for the duration. Defenserocks28 1 Quote

Feathery Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 IF a change isnt made at the end of the season, then Glass needs to go. However, I think Glass has been biding his time, not settling for mediocrity. If Stevens wanted to come, then I think Crean would have been fired a couple years ago. Glass knows he HAS to get this hire right. Now that boosters are in his ear, the Crean era is almost over. Couple more months, imo. thebigweave and recker222000 2 Quote

Look at the womens basketball team swift coaching change and the football team coaching change as examples. In my mind the only way Crean is back nexy year, is because the team makes a run. Now that OG is out, I highly doubt a run happens. We havent even gotten to the difficult part of the schedule yet! Lol Quote

bleedhoosier Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I have much more faith in Glass than Crean. His body of work shows he is willing to make some swift and tough decisions so I feel pretty good about where his head is at on the subject of Crean. I fear that we have to nutt-up for 1 remaining year while we align a proper hire in the back channels. Lol @ us on this board next year if that is so. U just think Crean is also smart enough to leave on his own terms, after our NIT run, rather than taking a hit himself by grossly underperforming next year. Although, we still would have enough talent to do ok.. probably an uninspired squad. I ultimately hate that kids are caught up in what is about to be.. a roster blow up with a coach change. Sapper03 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 We have a ton of talent. It is up to the coaching staff to get the best from the team. Fred has to realize we have to make a change.Sent from my SM-G900V using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
weaverswonders6 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 IF a change isn't made this year, Glass has to know the boo birds will be out in full force next year. They started showing up a couple years ago at home games. If we lose 3 of our next 4, things will really be ugly for those last 2 home games against Michigan and Northwestern. Quote
Aaron Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Dumb headline name for thread. I absolutely agree Crean needs to go but to say Glass accepts mediocre basketball is an unproven theory at this point. Glass was not going to nor should he of fired Crean after last year when winning a Big Ten championship and he's also not going to fire him mid-season. If this keeps up and a change is not made than we can talk about accepting mediocre basketball but at the moment what is Glass to do? For all we know he may be looking and gauging candidates for making changes after the season. Crean's problem is to many peaks and valleys. His highest points are the best we've had since Knight was fired but his lowest are the worst of any coach since before Knight. At some schools what Crean is doing acceptable. He was pretty similar at Marquette with ups and downs and now here. I certainly think there are schools where a good year for every bad one will work but not here. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Yeah, mid majors and non-pUKe SEC programs. I still say he should've been fired before last season, but that's neither here nor there. Defenserocks28 and recker222000 2 Quote

Give me one example of Glass not accepting mediocre basketball. There isn't, and until he does the thread title is appropriate, as I put it in the OP. He has the chance now to show that he doesn't accept mediocre basketball. He's had 9 years to see what Crean can do as a coach so we'll see what he does after this season. Crean shouldn't be able to use OG's injury as a crutch for this season. We were trending downward before it happened and hopefully Glass takes that into consideration. Crean's good seasons aren't good enough and his bad seasons are too bad for a school like Indiana. Trish, ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierTrav and 6 others 9 Quote
75alum Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Everyone talks about how talented we are. But Blackmon is not a good defender and disappeared last night, Bryant is no Swanigan and Crean's offense has him dribbling and screening at the top of the key half the time, OG should've been averaging a double-double but wasn't, why? Newkirk is inconsistent and awful at times.Morgan is a good rebounder but not a consistent scorer. Davis can play the post but can't stay out of foul trouble. Green and Jones are athletic but inconsistent. McRoberts is a smart player but not an offensive threat. Rob Johnson is the most consistent player on both sides of the ball. So, yes we have players with talent. But as a group they can't consistently play at Top Ten levels. To me, Crean hasn't figured out how to put these pieces together to get the best out of them. Maybe they can't run his multitude of plays consistently without turnovers and bad decisions. So do something else that gets the best out of this talent. Consistently.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
