AKHoosier Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Man, not a good feeling. Just get the vibe the committe's goal is to keep IU out, and use whatever criteria they need to to justify doing so, while not holding your teams like SMU to the same standard. Really rooting for South Carolina and Syracuse this weekend. Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

I think so…they still have to save face. They used up a lot of goodwill last year bouncing fsu in favor of Alabama. And then two (current) big ten teams sent both sec teams home. They’d look silly this year shafting the big ten and we have four solid teams. There’s no reason to shaft IU for some like SMU. Banksyrules 1 Quote

We had a fortuitous schedule, but we’re still good. Rece Davis said that it would still be in the 60s. Vegas thinks we are still safely in. -3000 odds. RaceToTheTop and str8baller 2 Quote

True. But it will probably take another year or 2 of winning to get there. Quote

HoosierFan1994 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Again, I hate being the 11 seed just being the last team in. But I do love this draw: @ Penn State. Winner plays Miami in Peach Bowl. IU can win both of these games. Unfortunately if IU struggles against Purdue I think this team has peaked and just ran out of gas. Similar to 12-13 basketball team. DChoosier 1 Quote

Similar to 12-13 basketball team I get that completely. But, I think the talent level of the last two teams we have played is on another level. Michigan struggled early because they couldn't figure out who their quarterback was. But they still had a roster with plenty of talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. OSU is OSU. Over 50% of their roster is 5* talent. We split those games and were two or three plays form being in a very competitive game with OSU. As much as I hate to say it, they are probably the best football team in the country. You could be right and we fade down the stretch, but I believe this team still has something in the tank. Maybe this week we catch our second wind. go iu bb 1 Quote

I think that since we had Michigan, a bye week, and then OSU it's been 4 weeks since we have decisively won a game which is also part of why IU dropped so much. People are thinking IU ran out of gas or were overrated after all because of short memories. Blowing out PU will remind people how IU has played for most of the season. cthomas and thebigweave 2 Quote

I posted earlier today that OSU has 5 top 100 players on defense according to ESPN's draft rankings. That doesn't count Downs. Michigan has 4 (Johnson didn't play vs. IU). Only other team to really have that many is Georgia and Bama. Quote
HoosierFan1994 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I highly recommend listening to Joel Klatt's podcast. He said that the debate isn't going to come down to IU. It'll be the ACC title game loser vs. Clemson or SC. I'm nervous with how far IU fell. But, he should be right. If Miami loses this weekend, which they could, they are OUT. If SMU loses, they can still get in but only as ACC champ. A Clemson loss eliminates them from an at-large bid. It is likely to be 11-1 Miami vs. 11-1 SMU. Miami will probably be 6th and SMU 9th. If #5 IU fell 5 spots for losing to #2 OSU, then if Miami loses that game they better fall at least 4 spots and behind IU. The debate would then be Miami vs. Clemson. If SMU loses that game, I think Clemson gets in. ONLY way I think IU is out: Texas A&M wins SEC, Clemson dominates South Carolina, SMU wins ACC title game in a close one vs. Miami, and we struggle vs. Purdue. I really think a dominating win gets Indiana in. Committee clearly factors in margin of victory. It's why IU was as high as 5 and fell 5 spots for losing by 3 TD's and some change this weekend. Anything less than at least a 3 score victory this weekend worries me. While I still think it is BS, Indiana kinda has some blame in this. We all knew going in that Indiana couldn't get blown out. And they did. It's crap that Georgia and Tennessee jump 3-4 spots for playing cupcake teams. Clemson too this weekend. Very fortunate Ole Miss and Bama both lost. Or I'm afraid we'd be on the outside looking in. str8baller 1 Quote
Magnanimous Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I think we’re going to see bedlam the next two weekends and end up hosting in the first round :) Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 If the seedings were to hold for the first, Sagarin would have the following point spreads: Indiana at Penn State: Penn State by 9 Arizona State at Ohio State: Ohio State by 15 Tennessee at Georgia: Georgia by 7 SMU at Notre Dame: Notre Dame by 11 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 One positive note about the CFP rankings.....it was Indiana 10, Boise State 11, Clemson 12 instead of Boise State 10, Indiana 11, and Clemson 12. Two differences: In the seeding holds, IU would play #7 instead of #6 but the bigger advantage is that that means the committee is recognizing at least a little more difference between IU and Clemson than if they had put IU at 11 and Clemson right behind. RaceToTheTop Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Ole Miss defense getting sliced up right now by a bad Mississippi State team. Currently MSU up 14-10, early second quarter Quote

Wrong. :) If Ole Miss lost it would not have been a quality loss. The loss would have been against a SEC team which means it would not have counted as a loss at all. thebigweave 1 Quote
DChoosier Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Bummer. Ga Tech could easily be up 13-0 or 17-0 at this point but it’s 3-0 :(. They are looking good….lets go Tech and give Georgia their third loss!!!! I love how the 12 game playoff makes so many more games interesting/important/exciting. johnsoniu 1 Quote
