That didn't take long. I think after seeing what Pickett got away with, officials were worried that defensive players were gonna start laying QBs out -- slide or no slide.

And TBH, they would've been justified. "Sorry I gave that QB a concussion, but I couldn't tell if he was really going to slide or not -- and didn't want him torching us for a 58-yard touchdown."

Shouldn't be banned. Defensive players shouldn't be stupid. And QBs take the risk. Freaking problem with this world. Trying to protect everyone from every little thing after they willingly take the risk. How about we just teach people to play football instead of banning everything under the Sun because players have god awful fundamentals?

On what planet is defenders having to play split-second 15-yard penalty roulette “god awful fundamentals”? Closing this loophole doesn’t protect QBs, it protects defenders from a really idiotic ruling.

If an offensive player is coming straight at you, in what fundamental world should you put yourself in a position diving right at them where you risk yourself taking out a sliding QB? Nowhere. If that QB is coming straight at you, you're diving forward at him and risking taking his head off if he slides.

The combo here is just…it’s just mind bending almost. The blatant disregard for playing at full speed in real time along with how the attempt to argue against the rule change actually justifies the rule change. Wow, chef’s kiss!!

In other words: If I want to keep playing football, this is pretty much my only option. 

Guess you can't blame the kid, though. Or should I say, man -- I think he'll be 32 years old next year (though even that's a kid to me!)

He finally got to start after all those years and had a pretty decent season. Walked on in Toiletmaker land years ago. Could Grant Gremel follow in his footsteps??? He even wears the same number -- LOL!
