Jeez Louise Rutger

Rutger was added to conference to boost carriage TV fees in the NY area markets.  That worked.

But I’ve got to wonder if they survive whatever happens in 2030’s with the media and grant of rights deal negotiations.  The B1G will be in the NY area markets regardless of their inclusion in the conference.  This is harsh, but they have added almost nothing to the conference since they joined.  Hard to see a good reason to send them $100M+/yr in conference media money.

I don’t know any Rutger people — do they even like being in the B1G?

A lot of this applies to Maryland too, though it’s not as bad with them.

Send Rutger and Puredoo to the A-10!

Say it loud; say it proud.

This the full article. Brutal. This may be the most glaring but I can’t imagine there aren’t a bunch of schools that are gonna have to make some pretty tough choices if they don’t have the resources to compete at the highest level.

Should the big ten withdraw from playing Norte Dame?

Overall, with respect to ND, I don't get why the P2, who control the playoff, are so accommodating to them.  Especially with the recent agreed to provision ND is in the playoff if they're in the top-12 starting in 2026.

ND is a big program, but looking at their TV ratings they're #10-15 in the country.  CFB and the playoff doesn't need them.  Why not make the CFP qualification tougher for ND and therefore easier for the P2 conference teams?  I don't really get it.

And yea, I guess the committee kinda jammed them in 2025, but still.

As for our home/home coming up with them, I hope we keep it.  A win is great and a loss wouldn't kill our season.  But also there is some brewing bad blood with them due to their butthurtness over our recent improvement.  The games would be massive and that would be fun.

Sounds like Mensah to Miami though it's honestly a pretty terribly written statement.

Jeez at least use AI to make it read better.

Honestly though the Big Ten and SEC need to come together and agree to not settle these kinds of cases. Otherwise there will be no stopping it

This was always going to be the outcome. As long as schools continue refusing to recognize these guys as and negotiate a CBA (obviously easier said than done), we will see more of this.

Luckily Cig seems the type to keep us out of such messes.

Ok, so I finally got around to understanding next year's CFB Playoff. Had the rules been set for the 2025 season, Miami  and JMU don't make the CFP. Duke, Notre Dame and Tulane get in. Let that sink in folks.

ND gets an automatic qualification if they finish in the top 12 of the CFP rankings.

Both the B1G and SEC are making it worse in my opinion. They basically gave the middle finger to the G6 and its entire fanbase. This isn't good for the sport. Period.

The SEC doesn't want to move to a 24 team playoff system and the Big Ten doesn't want to commit to a 16 team system without a guarantee to move to a 24 team system. Had this year been a 16 team system, the SEC would have had 7 teams in the playoffs. 7 teams. No wonder they don't want a 24 team system.

For the good of the sport let's just adopt the 24 team FCS system and be done with it.

How are they giving them the middle finger?

Next year's system most likely only allows one G6 opponent to where more than one team could technically be more qualified to have a chance to play in the playoff. For example, Duke replaces JMU this year had the rule change been in place. I can confidently say JMU was more qualified and much more deserving to play over Duke.

The JMU fanbase basically gets the middle finger with this change and that's exactly how I would view it if I were a JMU fan.

I mean the system was always designed to only let one of those teams in. I don’t think fixing a loophole is a middle finger

It didn't need fixing unless you think Duke had a better season than JMU and Miami shouldn't have gotten in this year.
