The Big 12 unanimously turned down Memphis trying to buy membership by offering something like a quarter billion in revenue enhancements and foregoing of rev share. You know your program’s got a problem if 250 million can’t buy you in.

This is wild and I wonder if Belichick has anything to do with this. 

If that happens that'll cause an ACC panic. I would bet the house Clemson would join them. That would put the SEC at 18 schools and leaves the ACC scrambling just like the PAC12 pre SC and UCLA. It'll then be a race to scoop up the ACC schools to get to 20 in both the Big Ten and SEC. Notre Dame will be absolutely destroyed and forced to join a conference.

Isn't there a yuge buyout if one of them leaves before their media right deal is over?  From what I remember, that is what has been keeping FSU and Clemson from bolting the last few years.

No clue. If that's the case, I'd assume it wouldn't happen until after the contract expires. Isn't the ACC contracted with ESPN, just like the SEC?

The ACC settled with FSU and Clemson to give them more of the media $ and reduce the exit fee.  Next season’s new exit fee is $165M, which then decreases by $18M per year until 2030-31, when the fee would be $75M.  Additionally, schools can maintain their media rights if they decide to leave the conference before 2036.  As you can tell, this was a temp fix and the conference's days are numbered.  2031 or so will likely be the end.

So who do we (the B1G) want?  ND would be great if they got squeezed and had to join a conference.  They will fight that to the end.

Personally, I don't care about fit with the conference -- sports, academics, geography, who cares!  I just want some new media markets to increase our revenue!  That's college sports baby!  I'd say Miami and FSU... Florida is a nice big market for the B1G network and our other media partners.  That would be so exciting.  ;-)

When I Googled it, I got this from AI (for what it's worth).  I don't see any of them leaving for another 5 years unless they sue, and who knows what can happen then.

I'd be surprised if the Big Ten would want to pursue any Florida school and vice versa. Notre Dame, Duke, Louisville, and Stanford would be the schools that I would bet on the Big Ten trying to land. All four of them have extreme benefits for the conference.

I don't care about Purdue anymore. I want them to suck even worse than last year. I remember a Purdue fan last year thinking the bucket game was a winnable game for them. The beat down was glorious. It's even better that Cig is the quarterback guru. No more cradle of quarterbacks for them. We stole their lunch money and ate their lunch.
