I said we shouldve hired Gregg Marshall not Billy Donovan.  I'm sold on Archie though.  He's going to win big here.  We're just going to have to wait until year 3 or 4.

Oh no. Are you saying we're not going to count Archie's first three seasons here? You're going to trigger some posters if you're not careful.

What I don't get is that if it's not going to be televised (which Rabjohns confirmed it's not), then why are they waiting until Wednesday? Seems like they could do an after school announcement tomorrow, Monday, or Tuesday and get it over with.

They count.  But it's not fair to Archie to expect us to be dynamite right away.  This isn't a Mike Davis, Bruce Weber, Tubby Smith, or Kevin Ollie situation where he inherited an elite roster his first season.  Patience will be rewarded.  Archie is the real deal.

The timing is so we will be pre-occupied and can't blow up on twitter.

That theory implies that people don't check their phones while watching a game. Which is false. Or if they don't it implies that an angry fan wouldn't be angry two hours later.

No offense, but this is illogical. More fans will be engaged on social media and platforms like this discussing the game.

Exactly. The type of fan who would tweet at a recruit is the same type of fan that live tweets the game. The Garlands aren't "hiding the announcement from IU fans". It's 2017 people.

Plus you guys realize his dad called Rabjohns to announce the time and date. Not Daniels and not Vandy. Just throwing that aspect out there too. Daniels piggybacked of Rabjohns.

I'm moving on in my mind. I just don't see it being us based on the last week or so of developments.

Worried about Langford too, to be honest. I'm not convinced Arch can pull a rabbit out of his hat in 1 year with these guys we have now. If the Langfords base their decision on our ability to win this year, I'm worried.

Either way, I'm not going to let myself stress with recruiting like I did with Crean, because I have more faith in Archie overall. Just not so sure we get Garland or Langford. We'll survive, it'll just be a slower build.

I've thought all along that we're looking at three to four years to get where we want to be. Coach Miller said it takes about three years to fully implement the defense the way he wants it played. Plus, we're adding a new offensive philosophy for players who have always done something different. We'll probably be doing much the same thing next year with a really young team I would expect to start really seeing what the future will look like in year three. After that, the fun should start in earnest.

But it's against IU and we lose the big ones too. [emoji23][emoji23]

Someone has to win this one. (Insert partially joking tone)

I feel you haha. Give Archie time, and we will be competing with the big dogs on many recruitments. I'm happy with next year's class already, so even one of Romeo Or DG would be a cherry on top

Still waiting for someone to honestly tell me why this is such a bad sign for IU.

Because after you announce your commitment, you want to talk about it. Think of all the Q&As that get posted at ITH and Peegs right after. With Darius, all the Indiana media will be in New Jersey and completely occupied for the next several hours covering a game taking place. To say nothing of the coach to whom Darius would be committing. Maybe this really was the best time available for the Garlands. But it sure seems like if he was going to commit to Indiana, a more convenient time slot could have been chosen.
