Brass Cannon Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 We really need TB to come back next year. JBJ I wouldn't mind if he left. Think it actually might be best for him. But if he's back it might be able to scheme around his defensive deficiencies if OG, Davis and Bryant are our starters. That means we would just need a true PG to get the ball to TB, OG and JBJ. Newkirk could fill that role it looks like. If we lose JBJ I think we can whether that loss fairly well. Lose TB and we may be in trouble. Shouldn't have too difficult of a schedule next year. Won't be as easy as this years but not as hard as last years. We should be able to contend if TB comes back. Bobman1, Alford Bailey, Tom White and 1 other 4 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I'm not seeing OG getting a huge boost in FGA next season. JBJ, TB, Troy, and RoJo will all likely be ahead of him in shot attempts. I could see his shot attempts mirror Hartman/Max this season. That's not necessarily a bad thing when there will likely be a few players, JBJ/Troy, who will have quite a few more attempts than the others. Quote
Magnanimous Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I don't understand this Troy leaving talk. He can barely start for IU. He doesn't have a reliable jumpshot, he can't consistently handle the ball, and he mentally checks out more often than not. He reminds me of James White from Cincinnati about 10 years ago. He may get some looks here and there around the league, but he'll spend most of his time bouncing around Europe and the NBDL at this rate. I also don't quite understand Bryant possibly leaving, mainly from a conditioning standpoint. He could play himself into a late lottery if he waits another year or two and develops himself. If scouts project him between 15-20 I think he'll jump, but anything below that he'd be best on returning. MikeRoberts, Naturalhoosier and hoosierpap 3 Quote

Naturalhoosier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I guess I see it more as 50/50. I get the graduating part. But what money is he leaving for? I don't think he gets the evaluation he wants back from the NBA. From there he can make his decision...try to improve his stock over the year, risk not being drafted and try to make a team. I just think it's pretty murky for TW right now. Everything that I can gather and analyze says that they are all about the money/instant gratification. I never said NBA million dollar contracts, but if he can score a $70-$80k European contract (which would not be unheard of), then I see them jumping at the chance. I agree, he's not NBA-ready and would really benefit from another year of collegiate ball. Class of '66 Old Fart and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 A lot of factors go into this, but I'm going off Troy leaving, everyone else returning. While I see Bryant testing the waters, I don't think they will tell him leave. He will be told to go back to school for another year to get stronger. RoJo JBJ OG Hartman Bryant I can see us going small with Newkirk, JBJ, and RoJo to go with Bryant and one of Hartman or OG. I love our depth, we will W have a ton of guys to throw out there and still be very good. We can't replace Yogi, but I think the team will be better overall because of the experience and depth. Magnanimous Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 him leaving doesn't necessarily mean he is going to the NBA.. especially if he is graduating. So why play college at all? If his goal was to play professionally anywhere, why not leave after his freshman or sophomore year? This sounds like the same nonsense people were saying about Watford, that this family wanted him to play pro anywhere after his third year. Quote

He probably thought he would develop into an NBA level player. But 1 more year in college isn't likely to make that happen Quote

I think most here come to the conclusion cause Troy's mom came on and said something that pretty much amounted to "We'll be laughing all the way to the bank in the near future", when she was replying to some posters criticisms of Troy. Bobman1 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 It also looks like Cujo scores quite a lot in his High School games so I believe he'll contribute on the offensive end. I think Devonte Green will have a similar season next year as OG is having this year. I hope JB realizes that he has to play D to help this team win games. And I really hope OG and Juwan improve on the offensive end to round out their game. Troy and TB will be Troy and TB, and if Newkirk is close to as good as Crean is saying, I'll be satisfied. WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Call me crazy but I kind of like our 2016/17 roster if the expected return and can stay healthy. If TB bolts, that changes things unless we have a recruiting ace up our sleeve. Newkirk may be good for what we need. Having DD, TB, Hartman, Juwan, and OG sounds so nice for depth. Idk. I'm not super worried yet. I like Green and Cujo and I think Crean makes one more splash with Grad or another Croot. lillurk and HoosierHoops1 2 Quote
Popular Post hoosierpap Posted February 28, 2016 Author Popular Post Posted February 28, 2016 All the Troy money talk...I feel like we're arguing the same thing from different ends. No doubt he is looking for the best way to get paid. Like any other NBA prospect. If he were looking for the fastest way to get paid he would have went overseas after HS, to Magnanimous's point. If it makes sense to leave, he will. But if he is going to have to try out for an NBA team based on his evals, then how in the world does it not make sense to come back and try to play your way into the first round w some actual guaranteed money? I don't think his Uncle is going to let him make a mistake, regardless of what Mom thinks. lillurk, IUsafety, J_Smiff and 5 others 8 Quote
