This backlash that a few have talked into existence is a fabrication of their own cynicism. We may get back there, but it’s not there and the people stating this know this. In one convo they complain about IU’s stature with kids and the bad hires, etc., etc. Then in the next convo they say there will be backlash? If the kids don’t care about IU like they used to or are apathetic towards IU, what backlash? It just comes down to people wanting this kid here and looking for every reason to justify a kid not wanting to come to a school they are a fan of, even if not logical. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Totally agree. Romeo knows we want him at IU. That's no secret. If (and thats a big IF) he is worried about committing to Vandy and waiting to announce because he is worried about what the fans would do or say as backlash (which i dont think he is), then what does that say about us as a fan base. Not saying there would be any backlash or anything but please lets not see anyone say anything to him on twitter or anything. No school should ever feel entitled to a kid and no kid should ever feel pressure to go to a school. Kids must do what they feel is best for them, not best for a fan base. I want Romeo more than any other recruit ever. But if he chooses Vandy or Kansas, then i will wish him luck and still wish him the best because of the way he has handled this recruitment. He's a great basketball player and a better person. No matter his choice, it was amazing to be in the consideration and have a chance to land a kid of his stature. chicagoHOOSIER Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I don't understand the part where people want kids to face 'backlash' for choosing another program. That's sick. Not calling anyone in particular out. Just think about that a little. Quote

HoosierAloha Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 I completely disagree with instate recruits not feeling the pressure. I want every top instate player to feel the pressure. I'm not saying fans should lash out on social media or in person. I'm saying every top instate recruit should know they're welcomed at IU and that should be their first choice. I believe when that happens, and IU lands the lions share, we'll be back competing on the national stage. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Btownclouds, ALASKA HOOSIER and Hardwood83 3 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI don’t disagree with where we want to be, but there is currently no pressure to come to the state school for Romeo. He lives on the state line and going to Indiana for instate kids hasn’t been the thing to do for top kids for 20 years. Definitely not the norm. So in this instance there is currently very little pressure felt by the Langford’s for Romeo to come to IU. They know we want him here. When Recker committed, that was pressure. Now if we go on a run of getting top in state kids then I could see it. There will be some upset if Romeo doesn’t come, but that isn’t pressure. Bailey7878 Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 So Sean may who was basically an iu lock choose North Carolina because of knight and played a whole season right down the road from campus. He made it through it. This fan backlash theory is nonsense Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk moyemayhem and woodenshoemanHoosierfan 2 Quote

That was arguably the biggest recruiting miss in the history of IU basketball after Larry Bird of course. I still have nightmares of Sean Kline starting at center. Iugradman 1 Quote
