MartintheMopMan Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I admit I don't understand the logistics and I'm not a medical professional, but if one of your McDonald's all Americans has a knee injury shouldn't all of the evaluations have been done ASAP? Is it wise to wait several days to perform additional tests and evaluations? At this point, shouldn't the assessments be over and the prognosis and treatment plan be instituted? Waiting a few days will almost certainly not have a negative effect on a knee injury. They probably still wouldn't delay quite this long though. There are diagnostic reasons to wait. Swelling like Aloha suggested, maybe they performed a diagnostic injection, maybe a test of a certain drug like an anti-inflammatory, maybe it's looked bad on the imaging and he needs an arthroscopy. And they might have diagnosed and treated but are still testing his current capabilities. Whatever it is, unless he tells them they can release it then no one is allowed to say what the exact problem is. IUsafety, lillurk, Hoosiers219 and 1 other 4 Quote
incrediboy Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I came to this thread hoping to learn something. So much for that. But...while I think we are a better team with JBJ than without him, the fact is that RoJo has shown he can play the game every bit as well as JBJ. So if we're going to be a man short, Johnson will just have to step up and be the man. It's not like we don't have 3-point shooters with one of our main guys down. Beyond Yogi, RoJo and Zeisloft, Hartman is starting to hit form again, and OG and even Burton sank threes against Rutgers. It's not like we're losing our best defender, either (although Blackmon probably CAN guard a chair no matter what Dakich says). Troy can move to guard when necessary. He plays guard about half the time anyway. Niego hasn't embarrassed himself if we need another guard off the bench. And let's not forget Fuchs is about to return, so we do have some depth, especially with OG and, to a lesser degree, Morgan, starting to look like Big Ten players. The fact is we can compete with anyone without JBJ. Yes, we're better with him, if for no other reason than his "scorer's mentality," but even if this is a season-ender, we can stay in the mix. scots07 1 Quote

The way RoJo just played against Rutgers I can't believe how confident everyone is in him. Say what you will about JBJ, but 0 pts 5 TOs is just... wow. JBJ is a huge weapon on the offensive end. We are worse without him on the floor, our offense is a little more predictable and we lose some of our ability to score. If RoJo feels up to making up the 20 points per game sitting on the bench injured, then we are a much better team than we thought. IUsafety and Lt. John McClaine 2 Quote
Cletus20 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I would hope that ROJO just plays his game today, and doesn't try to make up for JBJ. So many times when a very big piece of the puzzle is taken away, others try to do what's not natural to them. Our offense puts guys in position well enough that we don't need to force things. Popular Post Hovadipo Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 That's kind of making me think it's not really a knee injury. What if it's another failed drug test, and they're keeping it quiet because they're afraid Crean could be canned on the spot? If he's out tomorrow and again Tuesday, but then comes back next weekend... OR...it's a friggin knee injury and they aren't obligated to tell us anything about it. Jeesh. Jeesh. **** Honestly I don't know anything about what it is and it very well may be a knee injury but what does everybody (not really aiming this at you HOVA) get worked up if somebody else speculates or throws out a different idea? That's part of what this board is for, he wasn't claiming anything negative, wasn't trolling, just speculating possible thoughts on the subject. Quote

Nobody is worked up but it's silly and it makes fans look a little loony. And no one has said not to talk about it and speculate. The responses to the speculation are also what the board is for; to discuss the ideas put forward by posters. Sometimes the discussion is all praise and positive, sometimes it's everyone disagreeing. Trish Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 James will miss a few of our first few games with this injury. Quote
Alford Bailey Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm not sure we are better or worse without JBJ. Just do not think it makes much difference either way this season. This team as a whole has so many issues across the board and scoring has never been the problem. We can make up JBJ's points and anyone can not play defense. That said I hope its minor and he is able to play soon. Quote
8bucks Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Back when Crean sat Davis, Troy and maybe Stan a couple years ago there was no clear description why. It was widely assumed that since the length matched up with typical failed drug tests it was for that reason. The reason I mention this is that there is history with this staff to sit guys and not give clear reasons which could warrant speculation. Now with Blackmon, or any guy that has NBA possibilities, I doubt they would mention an injury (knee) as a decoy. If he was being sat for some violation we are not supposed to know about they could just call it an illness Str8Hoosiers 1 Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Isn't it good they are still evaluating the injury? I would think if it were a torn ACL or torn meniscus they would know already and further testing wouldn't be needed. Quote

I will bow out and assume I am reading too much into the responses then. *** I was told earlier in the thread that there is No need to speculate. *** Watshot got a "Friggin" & a "Jeesh" *** Then as fans we are silly and/or loony to speculate like that I agree with you 100% that responses to the speculation are part of the board as well.... And definitely part of the fun is the disagreements to see the other side or other point of view. I guess my point is sometime with reading on a board you can't tell the intent and it can feel like you are being attacked for speculating when specific words are used... (Maybe not the intent at all) Quote
Alford Bailey Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I have no doubt its a knee injury. Crean would get canned if he tried a coverup and he isn't that stupid. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

My response to this is would Crean get canned if we had more off-court issues? If he has been told something to that extent, then he wouldn't be stupid to try to cover it up.... either he succeeds and doesn't get fired or he doesn't succeed but he was already going to be fired for the situation in the first place.
