Not going to the games to send a message is like when people say they don't vote to send a message.

But if you go to the Hall and boo when you see nothing but weaves, opponents scoring at will, or 10-0 runs cuz 4 walk-ons are playing together, you're a bad guy too.

So what's the solution?

"Whatever it takes."

You have delusions of grandeur. 17000 paying customers is far from a Ghost town.

How many of the high price seats were empty?

You realize we lead the Big Ten in attendance, right? We're top 5-6 nationally EVERY YEAR. Haven't been out of the top 20 in decades. IU is not missing your 50 bucks.

Sellouts and empty seats can coexist. The bigger message though will be when donations drop. If they don't then no worries but if they do the message is heard.

I thought we had a poster here who worked for the foundation and mentioned he was getting more and more turndowns due to basketball but not sure if that is the case universally

I get that but it does send a message. Dakich talked about on air.

Cub fans go to games regardless of performance and that sends a message too.

while true for a long time, that isn't the case anymore. Easiest ticket in town these days. Might change here soon though

you are missing the point. It's not his 1 seat or his $50 it's bigger than that and it's been giving way for a while. We can make a change while there are a thousand or so empty seats or we can wait until there are five thousand empty seats. If Crean comes back and we have another less than stellar season.... It's bound to happen and IU should care. He has lost the fan base. Hell, it just happened with me where I highly considered going to Omaha but had zero faith we were going to show up so I said, forget it, it's not worth my $1k to go all that way.

Write letters, make phone calls, stop donating (with an explanation), contact the trustees, get involved in any way you can.

Not going has two problems, first, it affects the kids playing more than anyone else. And more importantly, those tickets are going to be sold to someone. The waiting list is long, tons of kids still buy their season tickets (and just get more of them). You aren't denying them any money, you're just hoping they realize that you not being there means that you don't like the coach. You're hoping that the kids on the court realize it isn't their fault. You're telling future recruits (class of 2017+) that we may strand them out there if we don't think the coach is doing well enough.

Like I said, it's like not voting. Ted Cruz doesn't care that you don't show up to the polls, someone else is going to. And he isn't going to start pandering to a group that doesn't show up because where's the motivation? Why should Fred Glass assume that fans will just stream back when he hires Hoiberg?

So, apparently politics is allowed for some people in some situations, right @mamasa? #doublestandard

Rule #1 - Don't poke the bear.

Sweet. Am I the bear?

Does politics mean all politician names? Because I only used him because my AP app had just hit me with news about him. It can be interchanged with literally anyone from mark kruzan to Woodrow Wilson.
