Potential fallout from coaching change

Recommended Posts

I'm seeing a lot of speculation about Crean to Alabama on other CBB boards ( not just IU boards ). I still think DePaul or Seton Hall are a better fit for him.

What boards? Linkys?

The only thing I hope, is that if Crean and IU part ways, the fan base treats him amiably, and thanks him for restoring academic excellence and a much higher basketball standard at IU than when he started. Tom Crean has brought our fan base some incredible moments and memories, and deserves respect and thanks for his commitment to the program.

Hopefully as a fan base we can demonstrate class and gratitude towards someone who gave it everything they had, but fell short of our rightfully high expectations.

i second this! I also think we will. I have faith.

Maybe its because I'm from New Jersey, but I'll never think of SHU as a good fit for anyone! Two words: dumpster. fire.

After checking out their board the other day when I heard the Crean to SH rumors, their fans agree. I kind of felt bad for them. They weren't even mad, just sad.

I'm a little concerned. There's just a lot of hate out there for the man. And I think it has more to do with the fact that this is just a culmination of fan frustration from watching the program fall out of the sky since the RMK firing.

AJ tweeting about Brad Stevens and the snow in Boston. It's really starting to get strange when former greats start turning on the current staff. Former players carry a lot of weight at a tradition rich school. This may take the pressure off the players although not the head coach unless something has been worked out.

I don't hate the guy.  I've heard he's not a nice guy, but that doesn't bother me since I'm an unapologetic RMK fan.   I just don't think he's a good coach and that he's in over his head here.

Hold up folks! Let's stop all talk about coaching changes until after the tourney, please? Let's focus on the game at hand....can we have a moratorium, please?

This is the appropriate thread to discuss it and a huge topic not only for us but all of college basketball. We're all still rooting for us to win come game time; we just want a new coach. Maybe Crean can pull the team together for that last big run for the glory of ole IU, or he may just get outcoached by halftime. You know where I'm thinking, but I still want us to win.

I don't know of anyone who actually "hates" Tom Crean. Indeed, I've not seen many people on this forum, even those who've been quite vocal in their displeasure with the product on the floor, who personally hate coach Crean.

This has become very much like that date that everyone has had at one time or another in their life, where you don't want them to go away made. You just want them to go away.

I'm going to guess that this might be his final radio show of the season, not sure if he'd do one next week if we're still alive? Might have been a "thank you for the support this year" to the radio crowd in attendance? Or he's leaving. Who knows!?!?

I think he is gone and already knows his future, possibly his choice.

Since the MSU game he has been calm and relaxed. Also has been getting emotional in post game interviews. Totally out of his character of a spastic, intense coach. The stress has been removed bc it's settled. I think it's a man at peace with his future and getting emotional about leaving people he love behind.
