OliviaPope40 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Lol - well does it make it okay, because she knew Syracuse was under NCAA investigations? I'm okay with what she said, but I'm not sure why Syracuse is getting a free ride. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Syracuse gets a free pass because of nose pick. Ranger78 1 Quote
hoosierpap Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Pap, I have been thinking on this the last several weeks since things settled down "a bit" from the incident on Halloween. I think you summed up how I feel about the current regime at IU. Of course, everyone wants to win, everyone wants to see a product on the court that competes and wins at a high level. I feel what has turned me off is these kids just don't seem to get it. When the person in charge isn't getting his message across something has to change. I was that young Hoosier growing up idolizing Cheaney, Bailey, Henderson, etc. I felt Hulls, Zeller, Oladipo, Watford, had brought that culture back to IU. With "the movement" seems to have come a sense of entitlement. Coach had harped for so long that the kids came in hungry without a sense of entitlement. That has been reversed with the last couple of recruiting classes. I believe Yogi let it out that he was guaranteed a starting spot if he were to come to IU. What happened to earning everything you achieved? I feel like coach is fighting so much more stuff behind the scenes and some of that is internal. I believe he trusts his players and his system to a fault. What changes to see better results? Are we at the point that he needs to go for us to progress from a "rebuild" to a contender? Is he capable of rebounding and being the man that takes the program to the next level? A few sweet sixteens, a B1G title, perfect APR, and lottery picks are great for the rebuild. He needs to cleanup the act and take care of business, this is Indiana. Bolds are beyond what can be posted on an open forum, and I hate to say that but it's the rules. I mean not to paint this as just being on the players; Crean is hard to play/work for. The reality of that is...plenty of coaches are hard to play for but win. Quote

Agreed, I'm in a much much different field of work. Most people who begin working for me don't like me the "boss." It's the people who years down the road who have contacted me and thanked me for how I brought them up. Now, the difference I believe is I had to change my leadership mentality with different troops and sometimes with the same troop. A huge quality I would like to see in a coach at IU is the ability to adapt and overcome. WayneFleekHoosier, IU Hoosier41, hoosierpap and 1 other 4 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Diagnosis of Crean I agree with. Your explanation of Mrs. Bryant makes sense, but then that means her issue is with trust, not that we've had failed drug tests. Which doesn't exactly align with her words, but your explanation is logical. Doesn’t the fact that she thinks Crean was trying to sell her a "bill of goods" speak directly to an issue of trust? If, as hoosierpap stated that Crean is pushing what pap calls a "moral code" despite the ESPN headlines of ongoing/consistent/recurring issues with alcohol or drugs, that would scream at me that there’s an issue with trust. 8bucks 1 Quote
LazOffTheBench Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I wonder if Syracuse will be out of the picture now, too, if mom is worried about a bad environment for her son? Is Thomas looking at other schools? Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I wonder if Syracuse will be out of the picture now, too, if mom is worried about a bad environment for her son? Is Thomas looking at other schools? No that was my point earlier. Her quotes seemed to point to our issues as reason for her son not to attend yet Cuse is having worse issues. I think pap's explanation made sense, but her quotes were confusing. LazOffTheBench 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 A USA today Thanksgiving basketball article. Boy, we could really use this kid, don't cha think? ----------------------------------------------------- Thomas Bryant, Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.), F, 2015 College: Undecided The one skill I’m most thankful to have in my repertoire is… “My passion. I definitely think that’s a skill because I don’t think a lot of players have it. It’s talking and staying motivated and playing your hardest at all times. I definitely take pride in that and it’s something that I’m thankful to have when I’m on the court.” RoderickJaynes, scots07, IUsafety and 4 others 7 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Bryant would definitely help us----but he is a Cuse lean right now. If we want a chance----we need to win some games----NOW. Speaking of Thanksgiving----the team that gets him is going to be very thankful! WayneFleekHoosier and scots07 2 Quote
HoosierReb01 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Well....not much about Mr. Bryant in here. Watch the language guys, the profanity filter isn't the smartest thing in the world, and there are ways around it, intentional or not. If for some reason the filter misses something, please edit it out of your posts. If you quote a post please edit profanities in the quote. Not worried about every hell or damn, but lets watch it beyond that. ccgeneral and hoosha61 2 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 How about tweaking the new selling point to Mrs. Bryant...? Your son can come in and lead this team on and off the court. We have some damn fine kids here who are working hard at getting better on the court and improving themselves. You can come in and improve your game, work towards a top notch degree, and lead your teammates to better themselves. That type of leadership is invaluable to more than just a career in basketball. rebelhoosier848891 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I just keep thinking------can't he see that HUGE GAPING HOLE in the middle of our offense that is custom made for him???? Come on Bryant----don't go to a school where you are one of several options---come to IU and be THE OPTION! :ninja: ALASKA HOOSIER, WayneFleekHoosier and scots07 3 Quote

IUsafety Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 She also punked UK and said that is not the place for TB. She said he doesn't need to "worry what platoon he is playing on". It lead to a major UK fan backlash. People tweeting they don't want a "4-star" anyway. He won't be going to UK, so there's that. Hopefully BBN burned this bridge already. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Now that's a funny quote from Bryant's mom----- that she doesn't want to have to worry about which platoon he's playing on..... I hope all that platooning backfires---on future recruiting. Never a good sign though that UK is lurking around. IUsafety, MikeRoberts, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

Who did we "miss on" that is actually having success? We "missed on" Devin Robinson, Goodluck, Theo Pinson, and Lourawls Nairn and none of them are doing very well where they are at now. We did land JBJ and Rob Johnson, who are starters and are providing a lot more than any of those previously mentioned.. Marvin Clark is doing decently for MSU as far as scoring, but he is not rebounding very well for a big man (averaging 3 rebounds a game). rebelhoosier848891, Josh and scots07 3 Quote

It means that Crean didn't evaluate them well enough and like the movement, would have had a stud class on paper and crapped the bed again...
