They look like the best team in the country right now. All cylinders firing. Impressive and depressing all at the same time. Agreed, they are really clicking - I could easily see a Gonzaga vs. Illinois championship given how well the two squads are playing. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Jim Nance just referred to Illinois as "IU." C'mon, Jim -- you're better than that! And these days, as far as basketball programs go -- calling Illinois "IU" is an insult to the Illini! Quote

It's still kind of hard for me to wrap my mind around them being this good considering it's been 8 years since they played in an NCAA tournament game. MemphisHoosier 1 Quote

The first few days are fun with games on all day. But really today I would say Cincinnati-Houston is the one to watch since Cincy would be a bid thief. LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, and Illinois have nothing but pride to play for today. This game does not impact their seeding. I bet with the same the games yesterday. Now Georgetown and Oregon State stole bids and that was fun to see. But overall I don't think they change much-especially with geography not having an impact on the tournament this year (Louisville winning the Big East screwed us out of the overall 1 seed/Indy Region in 2013). Another one...I don't understand the debate over bubble teams. They treat it like it's the college football playoff. Outside of VCU in 2011 who was the last bubble team to advance really far in the tournament? These teams don't deserve to get in. I feel like the bubble teams get worse each year. How is Drake considered an At-Large team?? Their only good win is against Loyola who beat them twice by double digits. How is Duke in the "Next four out" range? I just don't understand the hoopla over it. You’re not alone. I hate the idea of conference tournaments. The fact that the conference tournament champion gets the automatic bid is dumb. Regular season over a three month period should hold more weight. A four or five day hot streak shouldn’t trump a three month time period LIHoosier 1 Quote

Uspshoosier Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 All comes down to matchups and how the B1G teams adjust to different officials beside B1G officials. If Kofi gets into foul trouble things could get interesting. There seems to always be a team that gets super hot at the end of the year and then loses in the second round in shocking fashion. TheWatShot Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 I guess OSU is better when they aren't trying to protect a lead in the final minutes. Quote
Uspshoosier Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 No foul of Kofi. Lol that didn’t get called because he has 4 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Liddell forgot how to dribble and cost himself a layup. If I’m Holtman I go back to pick and pop with him though. He has gotten 2 good looks. Quote
schoosier Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Underwood has done a remarkable job and top players have everything to do with that. Holtman needs to be applauded also. It’s really difficult to watch knowing we’re 1000 miles away from either and Archie is still our coach. Defenserocks28 1 Quote

theriverpilot Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Again, I’m sitting here watching the selection show thinking what a home court advantage IU would’ve had anywhere in this tournament. Just makes me shake my head that they couldn’t even make the field Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
