Fred Hoiberg would be a good fit in LA. He could easily run a fast paced showtime offense there and maybe get butts in the seats again and some LA kids wanting to play there.

Hoiberg has never been that good? I don’t understand the fixation. Just because he coached in the NBA? He wasn’t good there either. Plus even at their best since Wooden was there they didn’t put butts in seats.

Lavar Ball ruined Steve Alford.

You feed the dog, prepare to be bitten.

Honestly though, Alford should be able to win with this team he has right now. It wasn’t necessarily a cheap roster. Haha.

Not defending Alford but their roster did take a hit losing both Shareef O’Neal and Tiger Campbell for the season.

Yes, those are big losses for sure, but still.

Normally I defend Alford as being a better coach then he is given credit, but man, this year has been rough.

It has been rough but without this two players there team really isn’t very good. To go along with that IU dodged a bullet no getting Moses Brown. I know he was a 5* but he is not very good.

How so? I haven't watched him play at all, but his stats look good.. 11.5 points and 8.8 rebounds on 66% shooting from the field. Also averaging 2.5 blocks a game.

Alford ruined Alford! Needs to own up and find authenticity! Dealing w Lavar - and not shutting that crap down-was just one example of the personal character he was so willing to sacrifice in order to succeed. He knew what he was stepping into, and made no effort to clean his shoes of the situation even as it warmly oozed up into his toes. Pierre Pierce an obvious other. There are certainly many other, less public ones. Compromised character with a blind self righteous reliance on his ‘audience of one’ to justify it all.   Ultimately, only a mediocre coach. Plenty of those around with better character who are real people. No thanks, and good luck.

The dude made Iowa State decent and into an offensive power. He can coach. Chicago just has god awful front office leadership and they have a very young roster at the moment. He’d bring a good style of play to LA.

Edit: Iowa State finished in the Top 4 of the Big 12 in the last 4 years of his 5 there. They went to the Sweet 16 in 2014. The school had only been 3 other times before then. He won 23+ games 4 times which matched the total for the program for all the years before that.

That’s good enough for UCLA? Top 4 in the Big 12. Lofty expectations. Dude he was not that good and had two good years, a bad heart, and isn’t old but isn’t young at 46. If he was young and had those two good years he might get an interview. But if you think a coach coming off of a firing is a good fit for UCLA after what they went through with Alford cause they have a fun offense you are nuts. Not exactly a good sell to the antsy fan base. If they went after him, thanks?
