Haven’t listened to it yet, but since Woj and CTC are really smart guys I imagine this will be a good listen.

Thanks for bringing this to the board. You are correct it is a really good listen. CTC seems to have a great insight into the current landscape of college BB and how much work goes into building a program. Tom also to me reveals a significant amount of personal growth through his work outside of coaching since leaving Georgia. Part 2 coming next week. Thanks again Demo.

This is a shame.  I'm very much in favor of NIL and the portal, but if CBB is has too many impactful players that are not college age, personally that's going to drastically reduce my interest and I'd think many others will feel similar.  It just won't look like college basketball anymore.

Plus these midseason additions are ridiculous.  Fans could think they have a good team, but then midseason a bunch of old pros enroll at opposing squads and start beating them and/or knock them out of the tourney.  How can fans get invested in the sport when this can happen?

Is what is.  Too bad.

It’s too late.  The landscape and game has changed and there’s no putting the toothpaste back in the tube, I’m afraid.  JMHO.  No need to beat up an old guy.  :)

I am good with paying these kids crazy money and even letting them transfer two times without sitting a full year, but the key word there is "kids." 22 year olds like the guy BYU added shouldn't be able to join mid season, play, and have 3 years of eligibility after burning out in the G League. College programs shouldn't even be able to entertain the idea of adding guys who have been drafted by the NBA already. I hate it. But as long as it's allowed I wish we'd exploit it to our advantage. Will be curious if any of these guys are difference makers when they start playing. Definitely makes it harder to maintain interest as a fan.

Got to give credit where it’s due, when the portal stuff popped up Calipari basically called exactly what’s happening and said something to the effect of, “We’re gonna find out quick which coaches actually like developing players.”

Blow up this system and get this back to players who actually want to be a student athlete. Let all of these merchaneries go play in the G League or over seas al get the college game back to how it should be. Move up the D2 and D3 players up to D1 and let the D1 players who wants to be paid go to play pro ball. It is time for all the greed by the universities for this huge tv contracts to end. Greed is killing college sports.

With Nnaji, apparently the Knicks will retain his draft rights. This basically appears like it could help set a precedent that would be more similar to NHL rules where a HS/euro player could be drafted and "stashed" in college instead of going/staying overseas.
