IU5355 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Positives from yesterday. Defense took a huge step, relentless pressure and secondary played much better. Its hard to see in a loss. But we've come very far since North Texas and even Northwestern on the defensive side. Dhop, Home Jersey and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

Old Friend Posted October 19 Posted October 19 1) Julian Sayin will have nightmares about Indiana the rest of his life. I really hope we see them again and he's the QB. 2) Hoover has to pull an RPO and run or we have problems. 23 of 25 runs yesterday were up the middle, and it wasn't there in part because the ends crashed knowing he wouldn't. We were in 2nd and long/predictable all damned day...and all damned season. That by itself cost us the game. But.... 3) If Hoover can't see the field and is still playing with scared legs, at least give Wilson a shot because he CAN see the field and he WILL run. Hoover is talented as hell, but he is (and Shanahan is right now) limiting our offense. We will go only as far as Hoover will take us right now. 4) OSU fans are still, and will always be the most insufferably unlikable people on Earth. All of these morons whose degree is from Bowling Green or Ohio Wesleyan....just talking sh*t about how illegitimate IU is.....using history as their barometer... you've all heard them. God are they the worst. Except maybe ND fans 5) There is no clear #1, no "great" team like we were a year ago.....and we can repeat. IF Hoover gets his head out of his a$$. At this point in his career I don't know if it's possible, but he has to see the field better and quicker. Maybe at this point he is who he is but, man, we have the pieces around him to go back to back. Artie86 and skhoosier2 2 Quote
iu2win Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Two games in a row in which Hoover has missed repeatedly. No reason to think Saturday will be any different than Nebraska. I expect another nail biter because Michigan's D is on par with NEB. If IU can get the run game going we will have an opportunity (as fans) to relax and enjoy the game. If not, we chew our nails through the final whistle. cthomas and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Unless we come up with something or our guys eat their wheaties this week, I dont see a lot changing unfortunately. Their D is far from their problem. Carr may fix some of their problems, and we don't have alot of tape on him to prepare. Quote
skhoosier2 Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Anyone watch the podcast CFB with Sam he has Galen Claivio as his guest. They talk alot about OSU/IU. Galen said he's heard rumors there is an injury on the offensive line that is causing issues with the run blocking or the running game? Ive not seen or heard this until today. Anyone else? Did not mention who or if it was more than one someone and it was sort of in passing because Sam nor Galen ever really talked about it after he said it. Stuhoo and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

If we have an injured guy who can't run block, how bad must the backup be? We really need to develop more depth in that group. skhoosier2 1 Quote

Yea it's going to be alot. We are either going to have to spend alot in the portal or hope our young guys are ready. Quote

(Runs and ducks for cover) Shanahan hasn't been overly impressive this year IMO so I guess he could get poached but i'd bet he would be going to an up and coming program maybe? Cig has made reference several times that Haines won't leave for another college program, so I am guessing until the NFL comes calling, he's staying put so either he takes the reigns at IU or he leaves for the NFL at some point. Just a guess based on different things Cig has said. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Everyone talks about the staff developing younger players and coaching them up. So, I guess we’ll see how that’s been going for the young linemen…and others. I’m guessing here, but seems likely the staff grabs a couple of experienced guys in the portal. JMHO Quote
