I disagree because if we would have taken their seed we would have been ranked higher than ND and OSU both of whom I think were better than us in 2024.

Where we really got screwed, but it was the rule that year, was the auto bid for the G5. If not for that (ie if the games were lined up by ranking) we would have hosted Boise State which would have been sweet.

Agree 100%. We likely weren’t beating ND at in ‘24 anywhere. It was a terrible matchup for us, stylistically. I said so much in the game thread before kickoff. We goy screwed by the seeding process and shouldn’t have been as low as we were.

We’ll rise in the rankings this year and have plenty of tough games to prove ourselves. We could possibly drop one and still get a bye. Probably a long shot, but if it were the B1G title game I think we would.

I agree ND was the better team. But they lost to NIU at home. We lost to OSU on the road.

We should have been below Ohio State and above Notre Dame however that shakes out.

That or let’s just stop pretending the schedule matters and it’s all vibe based

I definitely agree we were slighted on a name brand basis. I just don’t think that will be as much of a problem going forward.

Pretty simple fellas.  Offense looked good.  Special teams looked good.  Defense is a work in progress.

I'd say special teams was great. Can't think of any notes on that aspect

It’s only the first game but the stat that surprises me a bit is that Turbo averaged 3.9 per, on 15 carries, while Hemby only averaged 2.4 with 14 carries.
With those two RB’s, and our experienced OL, I thought we would absolutely run it down their throats.

The OL and DL were not as dominant/disruptive as I expected but, again, I say that with the realization that it’s the first game.

Offensive and d lines, our strong points, looked pretty average today.  Defense as a whole had a few guys with poor tackles or missed coverage.  Very good to see Hoover and the passing game start off strong. Also glad Hoovers neck is flexible

Hearing broken forearm for Martin—out 6 to 8 weeks.

That was the original scoop. No confirmation yet but it is currently the only version out there. If so, six to eight weeks and back for the stretch run.

Cuono and Jayreon Campbell gonna get a bunch of snaps against Howard and WKU. Feels like Campbell may be ahead of Cuono even though Campbell is a true freshman. Campbell has gotten good reviews and Cuono is undersized and didn’t show much burst last year.

Sounds the earliest we will see Martin is against OSU.  Wouldn’t be the worst idea to have him dress just to make them wonder.  Even if he’s not ready.  Hopefully he can get back by Minny which would be week 8.  Get some run before USC

Still have a ways to go on game logistics and as a PSA to anyone going to a game this season (even Howard): plan on arriving an hour or more before you’re currently planning. Traffic patterns in and out are pretty much fine on the bypass if you’re early, especially if you know your way around town, but we arrived to our lot 2 hours before kickoff to find an oversold, clusterf**k of a patch of grass with 1 (one) employee working the barrier on Fee Lane and none in the lot itself. If you’re still on the road 90 minutes or less before kick you’re probably going to miss some of the game.

Stadium was surprisingly well-stocked with water and you can tell they’ve added bathrooms and POS at the stands with the essentials. You can buy a beer within 2-3 minutes just about anywhere, which is a huge improvement. Bathroom situation is still a zoo. If you want to be in your seat 30 minutes prior to kick, you need to be approaching the stadium on foot an hour before kick.

We’re getting there, but it’s not a machine yet.

Good advice imo.

The concessions are quite good now, my only gripe is they were way short on water refill stations.  Will be less of an issue though as that game was uniquely hot.

Also, if you aren’t tailgating and able to walk 30 min to the stadium, the Henderson Parking Garage is free and there is plenty of downtown parking for $1/hr.  Both can be accessed with very little traffic from the 3rd street exit.  If you want low stress, it’s just that easy.

For the benefit of those who were never inundated with Ken's TV commercials and didn't understand my post above.

Funny story: several years back the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission said he had to stop showing checks magically appearing in clients’ hands after snapping their fingers lol.
