Yes, he should.  But in today's NCAA world nothing is certain.

Been a while since we had a PG of his ability.  I’m a little concerned about the shooting but cautiously optimistic. A guy that’s been there and done that just not with a lot of winning.  He’s gonna be fun to watch.  Let’s go Markus!

They show a lot of clips of Burton that really shows what he can do.  He is the elite PG we have needed for a while. They also mention that he took a recruiting visit to Drake when CDD was there a few years ago.  Even if you don't get the player out of HS, that relationship can mean something down the line even more now.

Solid breakdown, from what I watched, if you haven’t seen much of Burton. It’s interesting they used Yogi as a comp because it’s the only IU player I could think of close to Burton in terms of size and burst.  
 

I will say I don’t totally love the Yogi comparison though. I can recall very few people who just glide across the court, especially laterally, like Yogi. They probably share similar downhill hill burst. Also, Burton being a touch bigger might be a better finisher in traffic.

 

 Also, the thing that made Yogi so dang good his senior year was that despite being a great shooter who could get his own shot almost anywhere on the floor, he was tough to even have defenders hedge towards because he was happy to let a pass fly the moment he sensed one of his shooters was open. Burton, to this point in his career, has been more likely to take on that extra defender and try and score.  
 

And I’ll admit I haven’t watched as much Notre Dame as in the past because they’ve been so bad, but they might have oversold his defense a touch based on those one on one matchups. ND has been so bad on D it’s tough for me to really say. Either way, I think Burton can be a really good defender for us.

I think they try to do 2 year deals and there are stipulations if the second year doesn’t happen.  Don’t know for sure though.

Since all of these kids they’ve signed have multiple years of eligibility I assume that would have been the plan and, if so, love it. The 1 exception might be Harris if he looked at this as an opportunity to rebuild his market value.  But even so, if he has a really nice year you’ve got the first shot to retain him. Man, it would be so cool if after a nice year next year all they lost was, say, Sherrell to the NBA, 1 of the current freshman to the portal and maybe 2 of the crack fillers they haven’t signed yet to graduation and with maybe a 3 man ‘27 class signed you’re only looking at a couple of spots with no glaring, “God, we’ve got to find that” type of needs. Wow, that sounds like an actual program.

Or, they may have decided that PG, and Burton specifically, was that important and he was treated differently. We’ll see.

I really want CDD to succeed. He was brave/dumb enough to take on this dysfunctional program, when others wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Saw quite a bit of really good sets ran last year, with below average quickness and athleticism to execute them. We've upgraded our size, quickness, and talent. This year should tell us everything we need to know about our coach.
