Why do some people want to leave jobs at (very good) community hospitals to go to top academic medical centers? Why would someone move from financial planning into venture capital? Sometimes money, sometimes prestige or lifestyle. Some dudes are just wired to chase the highest level

But i still bet dusy is at michigan next year with a big fat raise and now will make more than the iu coach.

Why do these guys want nba jobs so bad coach k never left nor did many of the top guys

Recruiting. People here called Woody lazy but he was just doing what he’d done in the nba for decades: coach during the season and then enjoy his offseason.

Dusty May won the title and 15 minutes later the portal opened. He doesn’t even get to get drunk and celebrate if he wants to be working at…right about now…like all the other coaches.

One unnamed GM told the Michigan 24/7 guy who also has a radio show in Ann Arbor months ago that Dusty will be the number 1 college coaching option this NBA coaching cycle.

At some point in his career so were:

  • RMK
  • Billy Donovan
  • Coach K
  • Brad Stevens
  • Tom Izzo

In other words, Dusty May has every option at his disposal and command, and knows whether he has the itch to coach in the NBA or to be a college lifer. We don't know but will find out over the next few years.

Don’t forget Rick Pitino and Calipari who flamed out and came back to college to win a title at different schools. Somehow I like those examples the best. :{

This is somehow worse than being a reversible jacket fan…

It’s a badge of honor. I’m not from Indiana originally but a transplant. Grew up watching IU basketball with my grandpa. But IU football was never on tv in California. Michigan was and I watched them and became a fan.

Haha. You realize IU was accused of the same thing by OSU fans right? Not going to derail the thread but I’d love to have a dm message over the sign stealing stuff. And I don’t change teams and bandwagon. Or I would have dumped IU 20+ years ago in basketball.

The Michigan fan using OSU fans to back an argument.. I've truly seen it all.

Nah. Just saying the media made a 4 course meal out of a nothing burger. Michigan is now being sued by a former assistant who they fired for wrongful termination because they didn’t investigate and took the big ten and ncaa word on it when they fired him. Turns out it wasn’t true and he will be winning a handsome lawsuit or settling. For the record sign stealing is legal and if IU did it, then good it doesn’t bother me.

8-24 two years ago, maximum toxicity surrounding the program and embattled coach.

Hire the right guy and win big in two years.

AD who made the hire is/was running an athletic department embroiled in scandal after scandal.

Some will still tell you our fans/brass are the problem.

Yea, they kind of skipped the whole grind it out phase and went straight to the top.

Annoying.

In an alternate universe that was IUBB winning the championship last night coached by May and led by Mullins, lol. Brutal IMO as an IU fan to see it play out that way. And Quinn getting honored at halftime is the cherry on top... like getting smacked in the face.

It's much easier to enjoy CBB as a general basketball enjoyer than an IU fan. At least we have football.
