I'd love for Matt to leave, but I think the chance is more or less zero.

There are about 25 coaches you can place a bet on to take the UNC job, including insane long shots, and Matt isn't even on the board.

He's comfortable in his little world at Purdue and it works for his style of recruiting and coaching.  I'm not sure he'd do much better with the high dollar players given how he likes to run things.  The "star" guys have given him some issues in the past.

My hope is PU has peaked and realistically a best case is they're generally ranked #12-25 going forward and not really in the mix for big prizes.  Matt is a very good coach that has had things working very well for over a decade and I doubt they fade from the top-25 anytime soon.

I've disliked him ever since his recruitment ended. Just the way he went about the whole thing. I'm glad he's out of eligibility, he won't be missed.

What exactly happened with TKR's recruitment? That was five years ago -- and I can barely remember what I did yesterday. I might be misremembering, but didn't we think we had him? Again -- maybe I'm thinking about someone else, but I seem to recall many on this site thought he was headed our way. But as his commitment day got closer, the optimism shifted, and so did he -- to the Toiletmakers.

His announcement date was the same day as Archie Miller's birthday, which, given that we'd already endured 3 years of Archie Miller failures, gave us a glimmer of hope. That hope was dashed when Kaufman-Renn went to his high school's radio station to pre-record his announcement the night before, and the student running the station accidentally played it on live air later that evening.

I'm going with the under.  No way that he gets tossed in this big of a game.

Agree, tend to think he will be on his best behavior tonight, but totally possible he gets an early T trying to spark something for his team and/or sees they're going to lose in the final minutes and decides to go out with a bang. Lol

Pretty sure some guys on the  high school boards. Had him at Purdue the whole time  Because  of what courses he wanted to take. IU didn't have them or something like that.

Crazy that Purdue was a preseason #1. Obviously not near that level. Then get a 2 seed after finishing 6th in conference with 7 losses. Way overrated the whole season.

I don't see Purdue as a national champion threat any time soon....this was their best chance and didn't quite have enough talent.

I'm convinced Matt Painter has a few buddies on the selection committee. They've gotten terrific draws the last couple years.

I recently went back over some old tournament games and came across Purdue-Wisconsin in the Elite 8 in 2000. Wisconsin finished 6th in the Big Ten that year and was an 8 seed. Purdue finished 6th in the Big Ten this year and was a 2 seed.

I forgot about that part of it being Miller's birthday.

I'll add that after it was released he claimed it was fake and started throwing accusations around. His reaction is what really made me dislike him.
