Home Jersey Posted Tuesday at 12:14 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:14 PM Thomas Carr came with Kelsey from Charleston to UL. Two interesting bits from his UL bio: Carr helped Kelsey recruit an entirely new team in 2024-25, returning no scholarship players from the previous season. Chucky Hepburn earned All-ACC First Team honors while also being named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and an AP Honorable Mention All-American. Terrence Edwards Jr. picked up Third Team All-ACC honors. The Cardinals were one of the most improved teams in the country both in total wins from the previous season and in NET ranking from the end of 2023-24 to the end of 2024-25. Carr came to Charleston after serving for two years as Athletics Director at national high school powerhouse Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C. During that time, he also connected with numerous coaching staffs across the country as Scouting Director of Your Fourth Assistant, while also working as Director of Team Loaded NC, one of the premier AAU programs in the country Quote

He got great experience with Kelsey from CofC to Louisville. Now he has an opportunity to get paid presumably more and do the same thing at Indiana. A lateral move can set him up well for his next opportunity if he contributes to success at IU. Quote

EX: if Norton leaves next year, it'd be basically the same thing and I'd feel the exact same way about that. If Norton had left IU after this year, with the year we had, that would be a red flag for me. Uspshoosier, Demo, BGleas and 1 other 4 Quote

We have to look at this as a year one do over. Drew was thrust into a role he wasn't equipped to excel in. Kenny hasn't been a major recruiting factor for a decade. Both had short term contracts. Curious to see who the new guy replaces. kottke 1 Quote
Unexpectedflash Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I think I read Carr was Mikel Brown’s lead recruiter which would make sense since he played for team loaded. Rod Clark was Nate aments lead recruiter back in the day so it looks like we have assistants with connections that can at least get their foot in the door with elite recruits. Not as sold on Kenny or Adams. Hopefully Adams can come through with Bidunga. Would love someone with a west coast or Texas connection on the staff Pagoda and skhoosier2 2 Quote

You can have 5 assistants now instead of the old way with 3. IU only had 4 assistants last year. As long as they are ncaa certified any of the 5 can be used during evaluations but only 3 coaches other the then the head coach can be on the road at a time during the evaluation periods Home Jersey, skhoosier2, eddy4iu and 1 other 4 Quote

Now, doesn’t mean that an assistant won’t leave - just wouldn’t be connected to this hire. Uspshoosier, skhoosier2 and kottke 3 Quote
