Whitmer interviewed with the Bucs for their QB coaching position per Pete Nakos.

Doesn’t really surprise me.  Rewatching some games from this year and there were a couple of times, including the Natty end of half, where he and Cig seemed to have words or at least a disagreement.
Wonder if Hoover knew this was a possibility.

Highly doubt there’s an issue between Cig and Whitmer. That’s just heat of battle stuff and what you sign up for when coming to work for him.

Yeah I mean who knows.  Certainly could’ve been nothing, but neither you nor I know about their relationship.  Just seemed odd when they would disagree that the subordinate (Whitmer) had a look on his face like screw you.  And then to look elsewhere after one year, I guess it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he just didn’t jive with Cig.

If we win another title they'll have to invent a new word for my brand of annoying. It will be unfathomable levels of annoying.

Shoot i get so braggadocious in the Prediction League Results thread for mid-season wins that I can't imagine how much people will hate me if my team wins more

I’m sure this was always a stepping stone. He came from the NFL. He’s likely got aspirations to be an OC. He was an asst qb coach prior to coming to IU. He took the year got experience as the main QB coach and co offensive coordinator. If he isn’t gone this cycle and develops Hoover into a superstar then he will be gone next season.
I saw him and Cig disagree a few times during the season. I doubt it was much more than Cig being Cig in the heat of the game.
Whitmer will be a big loss when he leaves. I do think he likely brought some things in that Cig will continue with even after hiring the next QB coach. I’d be shocked if Tino isn’t waiting in the wings to come back.

As long as IU retains HC & both coordinators nothing changes a ton. Position level coaches getting better job opportunities is a good thing for IU imo

I think you might find quite a few folks upset if IU lost Bostad and some others perhaps.

what type of future Bostad is looking for. Lot of offensive line in his resume. Pay the man whatever he wants and I think he’ll be a lifer.

Those guys are doing a lot of teaching when it comes to technique and understanding responsibilities regarding schemes.  That’s always been my understanding…but I could be wrong.

And I think we can expect that Cig, of all people, is not going to stop someone from chasing their dreams of moving up in the coaching world. I would imagine him to be straightforward about what he thinks he can do for you to help you achieve those goals and the advantages of continuing to work with him and to respect the decision if you ultimately leave.

Could’ve also easily got his first taste of college ball since his GA days and remembered how awful the quality of life is compared to the NFL. That’s a really difficult change for some people to make.

100% agree on Tino, especially if it happens this offseason. Seems too obvious.
