Sustaining a 10 point plus lead would be a huge asset.

We let them back in a couple of times.

Nonetheless W! It’s a MUST AT HOME!

Go Hoosiers!

Didn't post in the game thread, but very much enjoyed this game. Some thoughts:

  • Connor Enright is a very, very good basketball player. The kind of player that would be a rotational player on national championship teams (this team won't be). Teams that win invariably have guys like him that aren't featured but contribute to winning.
  • Danny Sprinkle is a terrible P5 basketball coach. Just terrible. Gave off Woodson vibes in scheme; bad shot selection, regularly disconnected on defense. A high talent, big money roster that still doesn't win. And after the game? In his post-game presser, he didn't seem all that bothered by the performance.
    • This felt like a game where Devries won with his roster, and if he had the other guy's roster he would have won too.
  • Either Sisley or Dorn is one of our five best players - in certain situations where matchups allow we may be able to go without both Alexis and Bailey. They are very good long term building blocks and will be featured next year in a major way.
  • This IU team is so good against bad defensive teams, even when they are good offense teams. This IU team is going to continue to be bad against good defensive teams, even if those teams are bad on offense. We could absolutely beat a team like Purdue or Illinois, but a team that defends like MSU is going to be a massive challenge.
  • 11-3 and 2-1 in conference is nice! Would also be nice to build a little cushion by winning at Maryland before things get really real.

I think most of this if true. He’s also the guy Washington was very happy to and very visibly leaving wide open every offensive possession so they could cover Wilkerson and Devries. As bad as Sprinkle is, I can’t say that isn’t good strategy.

I thought Enright made the most of the situation but it definitely stalled out our half court offense a few times. Whether it’s Sisley or Dorn, we’re going to have to find a 5 man unit without Enright that we can play 10-15min a night versus good defensive teams.

Maybe 1/2 to 2/3. Lot of empty lower level seats.

The attendance disappoints me.  I guess the students being off campus and 25 years of program mismanagement will lead to a decline in attendance.  Back in the day, IU basketball was an event that you did not want to miss.  Hopefully, it will be full and rocking when Nebraska comes to town.

They left Enright and Conerway unguarded on the perimeter early and the two of them scorched them from deep. Enright is a career 36+% 3pt shooter on volume (2-5 last night), so he can't be left completely unguarded. He also had nine assists and zero turnovers last night. And he took two charges. He was IU's game MVP.

Btw, after Conerway and Enright hit a bunch of threes they came out on them. Conerway then blew past people to the rim and Enright got into the lane for a ton of assists. A better strategy for Washington? Play good team defense one through five to pressure, deny, and help. They don't do that because "Danny Sprinkle." Woof.

At some point Sisley has to start taking minutes from Devries. Tucker is a complete defensive liability and to be completely honest his effort & energy are awful. Without trying to be a hater, the team is better when he's out unless he's on an absolute heater (of course he'll ruin it by shooting a needless 45' 3 for a heat check). He is my least favorite player since Jeremy Hollowell

Sad but true. 6/34 on 3s in the last five games too…slow, plodding feet against this competition = no good 3 point looks. His best looks are those 45 footers
