IU vs Marian (Exhibition) 10/17 7:30 B1G+

Every now and then we have a ‘first game as a young Hoosier’ moment where it is exceedingly obvious that we’ve got a special player. I remember it with Vic’s first exhibition.

Trent Sisley is that; a really really special young Hoosier basketball player.

He is so friggin buttoned up. He’s gonna play right away, and he is going to succeed right away.

Rewatching the game right now. I’ll be really curious to see if they play offensively against Baylor the way they did last night. As nearly as I can tell they didn’t run a single thing designed to get a specific guy a specific look. They just ran **** tons of continuity with freedom to break it and that’s it. That was the whole thing. If that’s the plan I’m in. It’s tough to scout and you can get most of those looks even against real teams. The biggest difference with normal continuity schemes was the shear pace. That was nuts. Oats doesn’t play that fast. If DDV’s goal is pushing 80 possessions Hurryin’ Hoosiers won’t cover it.

One other thing from last night…

OUTSTANDING student broadcast crew. Better than most of who we get during the season. The play by play guy Nic should 100% have a full career at this.

Besides the return to actual shooting w/spread offense, actions and movement on and off ball — 27 assists to 10 TO’s. 
Actual basketball again. 
I don’t care how weak Marion is, that’s not the point, it’s basketball again.

Have to say I haven’t really been buying into the hype because I haven’t seen him against a goid college ball club yet, but his game looks well ahead of what I expected at this point, solid, confident, poised for a frosh, and ready to score. A lot to like for sure

He completely belongs with proven players like Tucker and Alexis. You’d never know he’s the 18 year old.

And he’s more than mature; he’s athletic, decisive, communicates like crazy on defense, and has a repeatable and quick shooting stroke. The difference in confidence between him and a guy like Jasai Miles, who was a featured small conference player, is night and day.

This example of a player subverting the expectations even we had is why people shouldn’t worry too much about the analytics sites.  Now if after 10 games we aren’t showing anymore than they say currently we can start worrying I suppose.

Ryan Phillips said on their post game show that he sees Trent stepping into Tucker's role next year. Not ready to say that just yet... but it's definitely easy to imagine.

Trent will probably be my favorite Hoosier in quite a while when his career here is all said and done.

Sisley looked better than i expected, no doubt.  But Al Durham looked amazing in exhibitions his last year at IU and then...well...lol.  It's an exhibition.  Don't crown him yet

Absolutely he will. Thats his spot, especially in this offense.

I know it’s early but…… there are some shades of Cooper Flagg in our Trent Sisley.

Rodecap and the member from Cosby, Stills and Nash were both very good imo. The girl sideline reporter was awkward from a visual aspect but if I had just been listening she was good too. Too much blinking and "don't know what to do with my free hand" moments. Things that can be cleaned up. Coach Cig is rubbing off on me

Wilkerson is going to drive me crazy.   37 of his 48 shot attempts being 3's and making them at the same basic % as teams did for the last 4 years isn't gonna' work.
