Not to be a party pooper.

Woodson's offense scored 112.4 pp/100 this year. The offense drives people crazy. Everyone's expecting things to get much better. I hope they do.

DeVries has coached 7 seasons. 6 at a much lower level of competition. Only one of his offenses has been better than this year's IU offense.

Not trying to be negative. There's a LOT of growth necessary.

You need to be able to have a scoring offense. The good news is that he has had some years where his offense out paces his D. So he’s not a one trick pony on just one side of the ball. FWIW, kenpom adjusts for opponent and when done that way his offense wasn’t bad last year.  You’re hoping here that the increase in talent equally lifts the efficiency on both sides of the ball.

Not that I disagree that the hire is a little underwhelming, but curious who you would've hired?

I think 90% of the names that were mentioned on here were not actual candidates. Top coaches aren't leaving their establish programs anymore even if they aren't at "blueblood" programs. DeVries seems to be cut from the same mold as Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey's of the world. I think he can be successful here

Don’t disagree. That said i take a cheaper option who I think is as good or even more upside.  Give me McCollum over Devries

Iowa could always re hire Fran. lol

Honestly their NIL is garbage. They weren't helping him any. Fran isn't a bad coach.

Yeah, it may have gotten stale there and time for a move, but if they think they’re just gonna automatically upgrade and that guy was the problem they’re nuts. Dude is a good coach.

1. McCasland

Beard, Wade, anyone that has won at the power 5 level that we could sway.  Cronin. Drew, and bunch of others that have winning and recruitng chops.

The past 3 hires have clearly demonstrated we are a delusional fanbase and the university wastes the money we make it.  Worst ROI program in the country.

I may be in the minority here but all these kids can go except for Goode.  Tired of not hustling and poor attitudes.  Malik has a crappy attitude that needs to get away.

He's talking about zrno. He hasn't played for iu yet, just committed

I know we were frustrated with our season.  However, if Devries thinks he can develop some of our current players, I'm all for keeping them.  If they stay, I hope it is to represent IU and play for Devries and not because we offered the most cash.

They’re terrible on defense. I think it had just gotten stale. His team could run and shoot the hell out of it, but I think they were ready for a change.

It is kind of crazy to think that another coaching search has now come to a close.  So many fond memories.  But lets hope we do not have to do this again in 4 years.

I do not know much about this new coach, but I am willing to give him a chance.  I like some things I have read and heard.  Dolson has earned my trust and I will trust that he got this right until proven otherwise.

On a scale of 1-10 for excitement level for me.   10 would be a Stevens/Donovan hire.   2 would be a Brownell hire (THANK GOD it was not him!).   I think this is at a solid 7 for me.

I want to thank our resident insiders here.  RTZ, Chris, GPI, Jerry, Ap ( I am sure I have missed some).  I have enjoyed all your posts and I hope you will not allow a few around here to poison the well and you will continue to be valued members of our dysfunctional family!

Can't wait to see what our new coach is able to do in the portal!

McCasland is an impressive coach, but he's from TX, went to college in TX, and has coached all but 1 season in TX, who knows if he wouldve even come to IU if offered. No way Scott Drew was coming to IU no matter how much we offered him.

IU was never going to touch a coach with baggage, but Will Wade or Beard would've been bigger hires (I personally would've liked Wade) and likely would've won a lot of games

I feel our list of actual candidates was much smaller than we all realized..
