WVU D1 Rankings and Numbers from this year. Not great, but I understand first year and a lot of injuries.

Stuff to like in that profile. Given previous conversations on the board I’m guessing half the posters will be put off by the pace. His Drake teams played a little faster tho

I've seen a few people mention Goode and Small for next year. I'd be shocked if Goode gets a waiver since it's very unlikely. His chances look good compared to those for Small to get another year.

So I wouldn't count on either of those 2.

Tucker DeVries will get another year.

And not a single good Kenpom number in there despite outdoing poor projections. Laughable.

Obviously our AD isn’t much a metrics fan. Should have consulted our white whale for the best coach since he played him again.

I'm underwhelmed with this hire, so here's a positive thought: maybe he can bring some dudes with him. I can't remember hiring a coach who ever did that. Archie should have, but he's a moron.

Archie wanted to, including a PG recruit, but the admin and maybe APR scores made it a nogo. It was much more difficult before the open transfer portal.

Very pleased with Darian DeVries as the hire. The next month or so should be exciting to see his staff get built and assemble a roster. Establishing the culture he wants to build starts immediately and will be absolutely to his success (or failure).

Link an article to Mark Pope hiring

Everyone keeps talking about Mark Pope like he didn't just tie for UK's second worst SEC record since Billy Gillespie. He did fine. But I'm rooting for this to go better than Pope's first year went.

And?

Analytics don’t win ball games. This is now, what, 4 hires in a row we’ve had to talk ourselves into. Scott just hung himself, which is unfortunate, because I like the guy. Oh well, even more money to funnel towards the football program. Basketball has been irrelevant and an embarrassment for far too long to care this much.

It seems that many of the folks who are not thrilled with this hire thought we were going to get a whale.

Those of us who had ... uh ... different expectations are pretty happy.

There are exceptions, of course, but that seems to be pretty true.

I hope that Devries is like Cig and has a solid plan for next year, but, unlike Woody, really starts establishing recruiting relationships with high school kids. That's massively missing right now in the program. Woody's model wasn't going to allow any kind of consistency in the program (except BAD consistency).

Not a single good season. Finished 53 this year. .500 in conference. Has above average Nil to spend on this years team.

Nothing matters until he wins or loses. You love it. I don’t. I’m getting a slew of negative reaction texts from my Indiana peeps.

Indiana had a chance to once again prove they mean business and didn’t do it. Wins will build it if he can’t be he’s never had a season to prove he can make Indiana fans happy.

Will he recruit the state better than the next guy? Nil only goes so far. Baffling move. Let it ride on gut instincts. Even Dolson’s opening statement is mild.

His best player got hurt 9 games into the season lol. They were nationally ranked when it happened.
