Ballo and Goode were tremendous. Goode tonight was what we all want Mgbako to be - a face up 4 who hits shots, competes and is at least somewhat competent on defense.

MM needs to move down the depth chart. Dont start him. Bring him in as sub 1 or 2 and if he is disinterested in playing hard and is lazy on D pull him right back out. It isn’t a shooting slump only that hurts it is a guy who does not get his butt down on D.  Stands there straight up while his man blows buy.

Goode really stepped up. While his social media battle is stupid he has clearly been very invested in trying to get W’s all year and, after a horrible start, his shots have been falling.

Most of the game was ugly but I’ll give the guys credit for not folding the tent after the last two losses. Yes, I realize “this is their job and that is what they are supposed to do” but it still would not have surprised me if they had just rolled over.

The program/team has been an absolute mess under Woody but I will give him some credit for not starting Gallo and having MM ride the pine for all of crunch time.

Tonight reinforced why I don’t bet these days. Across several sites, prior to tip-off, I read a number of “easy money” posts. Didn’t work out too well.

That really sums it up. Just a gosh awful basketball game. Refs swallowed their whistle on us at the end. Ballo and Goode carried. People are excited about Carlyle but it still wasn’t a great game. Improved. Let’s get Reneau back and make the dance.

Mgbako might be reapplying his liked tweets again tonight after that benching. Lol.

I've been defending Mgbako but I will say his defense was God awful tonight....worse than usual.

I'm going to ask a dumb question because I don't understand it can someone explain to me how quad wins work. All this time I've been watching and I still don't understand the nuances.

Searching the internet:

The NCAA basketball quadrant system is a way of categorizing wins and losses based on the NET ranking of opponents played12. The quadrant system is broken down into four sections, with the top two quadrants having the most importance2. Here is how the NCAA breaks down its quadrant system1:
  • Quadrant 1: Home 1-30; Neutral 1-50; Away 1-75.
  • Quadrant 2: Home 31-75; Neutral 51-100; Away 76-135.
  • Quadrant 3: Home 76-160; Neutral 101-200; Away 136-240.
  • Quadrant 4: Home 161-plus; Neutral 201-plus; Away 241-plus.

Last night, Indiana was away with an NET ranking close to 60.  And OSU was at home with an NET ranking close to 29 or 31.  So that is a Quadrant 1 win or extremely close to it.  Remember, the final rankings will look at the end-of-the season NETs.  So depending on how these teams do the rest of the season, the NET rankings may go in either direction...changing which Quadrant the teams are in for a past game.

To find the NET of every Division 1 team, I search for Kenpom or Pomeroy.  They are updated soon after each game.  At a point in the season, I believe that the NCAA may start posting their own NET.  I have read that they are very similar but have not verified that.  It is close enough.,.

Indiana won this game because of execution being just slightly better.  OSU shot better in all respects: 2s, 3s and FTs.

Indiana got the ball more.  Outrebounded OSU by 5, steals, blocks, assists, all barely in IU's favor.  Even the fouls were even at 18.

Tough game to watch.  Tough win for IU.

IU showed just enough grit on the road for a decent conference win against a decent team.

Does it mean anything?  Oh hell yes.

Does it save Woody?  Oh hell no.  But the decision by the judge has not yet been announced.

I can't root for them to lose.

I can’t either, I was just saying!  Both teams were equally bad but that is the most coaching, energy and enthusiasm Woodson has had in almost 4 years of coach coaching.  It was actually good to see but to little and to late!

A win here in this fashion isn't moving the needle in Woodson’s favor

I am glad we won!  Team played hard throughout and MW actually was coaching and showed some emotion, energy and enthusiasm!  He should have been coaching like this 3 years ago, but to late now

Imagine if he had really tried for the past 4 years... going through the motions and spewing platitudes isn't coaching... unfortunately for Woodson, it's way too little, way too late...

An away win is Quad 1 from 1-75 so unless O$U loses every game the rest of the way by 20+, it'll stay a Q1 for IU.

NCAA updates NET daily here: https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings

IU only went up 1 to 61 and O$U lost 8 to 37.
