Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Our conference play starts tomorrow at home vs the Go4s (6-4) (0-1) who lost their conference opener 90-72 to Sparty. This should be an easy game for us but I'm confident we can make it difficult. Radio Live Stats Dave from Dayton, Whoozhers and mamasa 2 1 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Trying to contain my excitement as I look forward to the IU team and coaches mail it in for half of a game Monday night against the prairie dogs or muskrats...whatever. What is up with Mgbako? Why did Rice only get one assist last game? Ballo should never, ever, dribble the ball if there is a defender on the basketball court. That plus, never defend further out that 8 feet away from the basket. When will the coaches teach the team how and then demand that they get over the hump? They keep beating themselves. tkbbn, J34 and Silat Player 1 2 Quote
TheWatShot Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 We've won 8 in a row over the Gophers. Since we rarely win more than 2 or 3 in a row against anybody in our conference these days, I felt compelled to research this series history a bit more. We haven't lost at home to Minnesota since 2012. We're 37-6 against them in Assembly Hall. So if Woodson manages to lose to these guys, we'll have some nice big logs to throw on the fire. Whoozhers Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I have advice to work on these 4 things today….. Fun, da, men, tals. Gotta break it down and build on those 4 things if you expect to end up anywhere better. GO HOOSIERS! Home Jersey 1 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Confident we’ll win. Also confident Woodson’s “game planning” will make it more difficult than it should br and the game thread will be … testy. Hope to see Bako back in form and the team playing a lot more engaged overall Home Jersey, Silat Player and Hoosierfanyuh 3 Quote
HoosierCoop Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 There is a lot of questions in the posts above. Here's my personal opinion: MM was on some preseason award watches and came out hot. Because of that, I feel he needs to keep his PPG up so he is forcing too much in his game. He is not athletic enough to generate his own offense. MM is also not doing those little cuts to the basket that we saw earlier as well. Rice is not getting the assists like he used to because the offense stalls. i.e.MM, Reneau, etc. settling for one-on-one ball. Rice would excel in a dibble drive offense. No one is engaged on defense. It's a poop show. With the exception of Reneau, no one is athletic enough to take their man solo on offense. Ballo is not a good passer period. Reneau should be the one receiving at the key. Whooziers said it best, "Fun, da, men, tals" If these coaches could get a smidge of chemistry built with these guys they might win a few games. If not, we'll have a lot of discussion in the spring. Whoozhers and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

Will watch the entire game tonight...but the one thing I noticed in several games was repeated from years past - just the lack of hustle, especially after turnovers. Guys put their head down and just jog. If we arent scoring, we aren't playing defense and energy drags...watching the Kentucky vs. Gonzaga game, dudes were out there busting their butts and moving at a pace I don't think I have ever seen us move at. That seems to be the theme whenever I watch other elite level programs. We don't have that, whatever it is. Hoping to see some Energy, hustle, and as mentioned above - fun,da,men, tals. Woodson's defense is too complicated for them. Takes too long to learn, let alone perfect. And requires players above the college level. Thus, I think they get frustrated and disengage. Quote

His track record is to let the players and assistant coaches do the work and once they get it to a closing point, they bring in MW to close the deal. If you want to involve MW, you have to go to MW.
