Little 5 in the old stadium -- Still strikes me as wild that it was torn down and replaced with the green next to the Library

Drove by there for the first time in awhile a few weeks ago. Forgot how beautiful campus could be. I think it was 2020 last time I went on campus. My wife and I had gone to see Les mis and we had parking on kirkwood and decided to take a scenic route to the auditorium. Bloomington is a beautiful place. We always figured we would end up back there because that.

The Bailey pickup was early and now seems to be the one piece that may not fit, defensively at least. But he’s talented enough and we didn’t have any commits yet, so you had to take him at the time.

With that said…it’s not necessary to have a rim protector to play good defense. Play like Bo Ryan or Tony Bennett teams and stay in front of your man, keep them out of the lane, deny the post and rotate like hell out of it, and you can still have a good defense. I don’t know if that is CDD’s style or not.

But right now after you slot in Tucker defensively at the 4 and two mid major guys not known for their defense at the other wing spots, having a guy who isn’t a plus-defender at center seems to be a big gamble going into the season. I’m really curious as to 1) how they round out the roster, and then 2) juggle those mins next season.

Well, just remember 3 > 2.  :)

Three pointers made/game over their career and three point career percentage:

Enright:  1.0;  37%

Conerway:  1.0;  29%

Wilkerson:  2.1;  40%

Miles:  1.6;  33%

Drake:  0.9;  39%

DeVries:  2.5:  37%

Bailey:  0.4:  31%

TOTAL:   9.5 out of 26.6;  36%

Obviously the minute distribution isn't established, but we know Sisley is a good shooter (might not get a ton of time as a freshman, though) and if Goode were granted another season, that is a lot of guys you have to guard from three.  I would expect that unlike the past zillion years the three point shot is going to be a huge part of IU's offense.

Miller is a much better rim protector than Bailey but isn't as skilled offensively.

I was going to add to this with something funny, then everyone with Miller in their name I thought of from Miller Kopp to dead country singer Roger Miller,,,,,then every person in history that's occupation was that of a Miller, came to mind, then I realized that they are all probably better defensive players than Bailey and it got sad.

Wikipedia didn't have Roger Millers offensive rpg stats. He's been dead since 92'  its probably pretty close.

Your thoughts are on point. I dove into Louisvilles construction last year. Of Pope, May and Kelsey I think DD will most resemble Kelsey offensively.  Looking at our adds, it backs that up quite a bit. It made me feel better when I saw Scott, Waterman and Pryor where his bigs then Pryor, more of a stretch 4, went down for the year early. They were a good team.

Combined they were roughly 13ppg 10 rpg (over 3 offensive) and 1.3 blocks.

Scott was the rim runner but with the barrage of 3s they put up there was a lot of long rebounds.

Check out Elijah Price. Rs fr from Fresno State. He was a frosh at Drake, recruited by dd.

Good find. Can't shoot to save his life from anywhere but seems to be a good rebounder and at 1.3 bpg he shows some rim protection. Pretty small though to be playing at the 5 in the B1G at 6'9" 205. Could be worth a roster spot for development if that's something he'd be willing to do.

Price shows committed to Nevada. Is that wrong?

What I've been (loudly) waiting for, for a long time now

Conerway and Enright split time at 1, Deuce as third ball handler. Wilkerson / Miles / Dorn at the 2/3. DeVries play a little 3, a lot of 4. Bailey split time at 4/5. Miller or Fedx2 at the 5 would be cool. Curious if we end up with either of them or someone not being talked about much. Would love to add Dorn but it may be a stretch. Like the direction of the roster.
