Wouldn't less players make one to think they would get a lot of playing time Vs  a pretty full roster ?

I think playing time obviously is a big factor. But if you’re confident you’re going to get on the court like Wilkerson is, you want to play for a winning team. Especially a guy like him with one year left and trying to put himself in the best position to play NBA / high level pro basketball. Winning is still important to players, more than people think. That’s why IMO it’s tough to commit to a team with pretty much a blank canvas. Hopefully the Wilkerson update is not accurate.

It’s not just about PT….it’s about offensive role.

Okay but I think I would rather get some more players who have a more than 1 year remaining ,seems  better than trying to rebuild every year .

Possibly, but Wilkerson can't do it all by himself. IU's case is the cupboard is bare right now. It's not just less players. Plus all the other 3 programs had varying degrees of successes in the tournament. These coaches are proven winners. We believe coach DeVries is a real good one, but he' never got to Sweet 16 in his 7 seasons as a head coach. So from a college kid's and his parents' perspectives, IU may not be their favorite. I wish we get this kid. But I'm trying to temper my expectations.

For sure. That’s really important. I think by the time they’re visiting campus they probably have a decent sense for that, money, PT, etc. IMO the visits are to firm that all up and give the recruit a feel for what they’d be walking into. “Does it all add up to the winning that’s going to help me get to the next level as long as I do my thing?”JMO

It’s a potential rebuild every year with NIL. You get the best player available. Whether they have 1 year or 4 years of eligibility. We seriously need to close here

If Lamar left campus without a commitment then I doubt he will be coming back to commit.

Wilkerson camp got an offer from Coach DeVries. So this number will be the hurdle for the other 3 teams. My WILD guess is that coach might've offered him 2.5M (3M max). Wilkerson is a really good prospect (almost a can't miss prospect) who fits our system well.

To be devil’s advocate, aren’t there quite a few NBA players who made it even though they played for lesser programs or programs that didn’t necessarily win in a player’s final season?  Aren’t NBA scouts looking for individual performance over team performance?

Has he thought about me though, and that I wouldn't like him to make that visit?

I picture Pope in a GP Tent on a bail of money with a 65" screen with on3 top targets on. Maybe a couple of cia agents stuffing it in brief cases.

Of course there are tons of examples. But generally pro teams (particularly overseas) value winning experience / connections. Individual performance and projectibility is most important for sure. But for guys who are tweeners of NBA/G League or overseas, they put themselves in better position coming from a winning team/program. Plus obviously, it can’t be understated how much good players want to win in general. Going through a mediocre / bad season sucks. All things considered you definitely try to avoid that if you can.
