Unexpectedflash Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Ugh I dont think we get him if he leaves campus. Kentucky is probably a top 3 team with him and has unlimited money apparently. Pay him whatever he wants coach Jet812 1 Quote

Pagoda Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Not great. But it’s so easy to drive three hours and spend a day at UK… even if he is an IU lean he doesn’t have anything to lose taking the visit. IU - Kaulie, Home Jersey and go iu bb 3 Quote

I think playing time obviously is a big factor. But if you’re confident you’re going to get on the court like Wilkerson is, you want to play for a winning team. Especially a guy like him with one year left and trying to put himself in the best position to play NBA / high level pro basketball. Winning is still important to players, more than people think. That’s why IMO it’s tough to commit to a team with pretty much a blank canvas. Hopefully the Wilkerson update is not accurate. lillurk, akumanina and Ctf9 3 Quote

Okay but I think I would rather get some more players who have a more than 1 year remaining ,seems better than trying to rebuild every year . Home Jersey and Pagoda 2 Quote

Possibly, but Wilkerson can't do it all by himself. IU's case is the cupboard is bare right now. It's not just less players. Plus all the other 3 programs had varying degrees of successes in the tournament. These coaches are proven winners. We believe coach DeVries is a real good one, but he' never got to Sweet 16 in his 7 seasons as a head coach. So from a college kid's and his parents' perspectives, IU may not be their favorite. I wish we get this kid. But I'm trying to temper my expectations. Quote

I think by the time they’re visiting campus they probably have a decent sense for that, money, PT, etc. IMO the visits are to firm that all up and give the recruit a feel for what they’d be walking into. “Does it all add up to the winning that’s going to help me get to the next level as long as I do my thing?”JMO Pagoda 1 Quote

It’s a potential rebuild every year with NIL. You get the best player available. Whether they have 1 year or 4 years of eligibility. We seriously need to close here BA47591 1 Quote

Wilkerson camp got an offer from Coach DeVries. So this number will be the hurdle for the other 3 teams. My WILD guess is that coach might've offered him 2.5M (3M max). Wilkerson is a really good prospect (almost a can't miss prospect) who fits our system well. Pagoda 1 Quote

Aren’t NBA scouts looking for individual performance over team performance? Of course there are tons of examples. But generally pro teams (particularly overseas) value winning experience / connections. Individual performance and projectibility is most important for sure. But for guys who are tweeners of NBA/G League or overseas, they put themselves in better position coming from a winning team/program. Plus obviously, it can’t be understated how much good players want to win in general. Going through a mediocre / bad season sucks. All things considered you definitely try to avoid that if you can. TheWatShot Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Didn't Chris say yesterday we had Wilkerson? Obviously we don't if he's visiting UK...unless by "have him" he meant have him here to visit. Recruiting just isn't easy for this program anymore. 94Bulldog, skhoosier2 and lillurk 3 Quote
