If it's not money, then it's likely the coach that players aren't interested in...thrown in with some of the IU dysfunction from recent years...

Or... maybe there are other factors... like wanting to be close to home for family...

Yeah, IU has been dysfunctional for 10 years or more, but the changing of the guard (Buckner/Woodson out, Dolson/DeVries in) will help that. Maybe reputation plays a role, but given the new direction and the desire to hire a "real" college coach is also a factor. Crean was streaky and at times, odd, Archie had the personality of a bag to doorknobs, Woodson was lazy and arrogant... all of that is gone...

I don't think it's going to be as hard of a sell as some think it will be... DeVries has a plan, and we need to let him work that plan. He will win some and lose some, but we're gonna be ok. Coach DD has done it twice, he will do it again.

This fanbase does nothing but wishcast and have positive vibes till the dam breaks after years of mediocrity.

If you want to be a big boy program you have to big boy program things.  We consistently don’t. We apparently will only spend the money for top tier talent when the coach has already revealed themselves to be incompetent.

This fanbase also freaks out until the dam breaks. Neither has had an impact on what ACTUALLY happens with this basketball team.

Who is the D2 player at Auburn?

Chaney Johnson played at Alabama Huntsville before going to Auburn. He is averaging 9 ppg this year for Auburn

What's the amount Indiana Basketball receive in revenue sharing?

$16 million - Indiana Football

$ 6 million - Indiana Basketball

$1 million < remaining amount - Indiana Women's Basketball?

Starting July 1st, collectives can't be used to pay players going forward. However, they can have private NIL to athletes.

The math doesn't work since the revenue sharing cap is $20.5M.

The job of any fanbase is to wishcast and have positive vibes. That’s called supporting the program. It’s equally unproductive to mope about how awful IU is/has been. Is what it is what it is. Gotta dig out of it. Can’t hold the pent up frustration from Archie and Woody against DDV. One miss doesn’t break everything. Let’s see how we feel at end of April.

Sure it does, this fan base is the most bipolar fan base in the country.

Stuhoo quoted $3.5M for bball in a post a few days ago.  Not sure of his source but he seems to know his stuff.  I’d guess maybe $1.5-2M for the non-rev sports and the rest to football?

I do think that is part of the case here. Obviously get a few good seniors but you do need to sprinkle in sophomores and juniors too for continuity.

I don't have the stats to answer this, but how many of the sophomores and juniors in the portals are staying after one year? I have seen some of these kids jumping from school to school 2 or 3 times... so while NIL helps you build a competitive team quickly, it also keeps the carousel spinning... unfortunately, that's also true of HS recruits...

Yeah but the people who calling out the warning signs early had the benefit of being right. Sticking your head in the sand and hoping doesn’t help

There is lot of time left in the portal season. A lot of players still to enter and visit. Many more will turn us down, many more will commit. Winning the offseason hasn't gotten us anywhere as of late. I know its hard given the last 20+ years, but I'm willing to have some patience, see how the next couple weeks play out and give CDD a chance to get the guys that fit his system, regardless of where they are ranked on x,y,z site.

Seems to have the same exact effect on the outcomes. Our bed is made for at least 3 years (imho) - perspective is everyone's prerogative neither helps unless someone on here has actual influence which is most likely unlikely.

I like to keep 'my head in the sand' or take the more optimistic view - heck I had fun thinking we had a chance at Brad. I figure either way it's gonna happen as its gonna happen - why not enjoy the ride?

The other factor on this too is some of the guys will commit, and guess what...it will will make another player or 2 on that team feel uneasy and they might enter the portal.  There is going to be a lot of movement happening....patience young padawans. patience

With how Stirtz played this season and Auburn has a D2 player it is becoming more common for D2 players to play well at the D1 level.

I believe this is related to the transfer portal era.  Kids are being passed up or missed in the recruiting process in high school that are D1 worthy, then having to take spots at the D2 level.

and the extra covid year that all of those players got. Those players are now gone.

And 4 teams that are currently having their end of year conversations plus 4 more teams that will next week. Patience is a virtue.
