If I recall correctly isn't his Assist/TO ratio decent? If he's a sub to give whomever the starting PG will be a breather and he's looked at to be a distributer, I understand it.

He turned it over on 30% of the possessions he used last year. That's really bad.

He's fine as an addition to the team, but I think the board in general is overrating his value.

His last year with Drake in Devries' system is probably more telling, for better or for worse:

GP MIN FG% 3P% FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS

33 26.1 45.3 43.9 72.5 3.2 3.2 0.2 1.0 2.4 1.3 6.9

He was top 20 nationally in assist rate last year despite playing with a very subpar supporting cast. His TO rate at Drake was fine.

This can be explained by DePaul running too much offense through him, which also explains the high assist and TO #s.

He's a bench guy with experience.

No...he didn't.  If his assist ratio is 2 to 1 and he 'turned it over 30% of the possessions he used last year', does that mean he had assists on 60% of the possessions 'he used'?

A '30% of the possessions he 'used' rate' is nothing more than a comparison of turnovers to shots taken which is a false way of looking at turnover percentage.

Agreed, other than the 3 pt %. Given his career FT % and his first year at Drake and last year, I wouldn't expect him to replicate that (even that year, he only shot 37% in conference play - just had a really hot November/December).

But yes, if we expect something like: 25 minutes, 6 points, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 35% from 3, and an understanding of the system and where to be on offence and defense, that's probably about what he will provide.

No it's not. No he isn't.

You don't know what you're talking about. Below are the heights/weights of the starting PG's remaining in the S16 (taken straight from each school's website)

Auburn---Tahaad Pettiford 6'1 175

Michigan---Tre Donaldson 6'3 195

Ole Miss---Sean Pedulla 6'1 195

Michigan State--Tre Holloman 6'2 185

Florida---Walter Clayton Jr 6'3 195

Maryland--Ja'Kobi Gillespie 6'1 186

Texas Tech---Elijah Hawkins 5'11 160

Arkansas---Boogie Fland 6'2 175

Duke--Tyrese Proctor 6'6 183

Arizona--Caleb Love 6'4 205

BYU---Egor Demin 6'9 215

Alabama--Mark Sears 6'1 190

Houston---LJ Cryer 6'1 200

Purdue---Braden Smith 6'0 170

Kentucky--Lamont Butler 6'1 208

Tennessee---Zakai Zeigler 5'9 172

At 6'2 185, Enright is as tall or taller than 11/16 starting PG's left in the tournament. His size is not an issue, clearly.

Right. But we're giving him credit for these great assist numbers without knocking him for his turnover issues. His best role, then, is much more limited in terms of the amount of offense running through him... which means he won't be creating as many assists.

Yes, he's a bench guy with experience. And that's fine.

Your claim that the average point guard is 5'11" just took a big hit.

Wasn't my claim, it was @IUGRAD06claim

My post completely debunks @Certified Sunshine Pumperclaim from yesterday that he's too small to start in the B10. Clearly he's not

Enright isn't close to a starter in the B1G. His size alone says that. One bench piece for one year. I'm more than fine with that.

I took it from an article.  6’2” isn’t a small PG and yes some teams use bigger small forwards like BYU.  Most schools are in that range I have though.

Some of you are ridiculous

I just think we are going down the road of absolutely destroying the off-season. We have won 25 straight off-season championships.

This is our favorite time of year, "We're finally gonna get the guys we need....."

"We're gonna be 35-2 with this new team..."*

I agree with your premise. Enright's size isn't a concern in the least.

People can wonder if year 2 was a fluke or year 3 was a fluke because he was asked to do to much.  That’s an argument right.  He is not very efficient either.  PER is low compared to starting PGs.  Should be in that 15-21 range.  That’s a valid argument and concern with him.

Yeah, he played on a bad DePaul team with a poor supporting cast and was probably asked to do too much. When CJ Gunn is your best perimeter player....you're going to have problems. I think in a system that he's familiar with, surrounded by scorers, he's fine to run the offense for 20 some minutes a game.

I love optimism going into a coaching change. All the tools are there to put a good team together and compete at a high level next season. With the amount of money at CDV's disposal he will be able to be strategic with how he goes about building this team. I am excited to see how it works out. But losses are not acceptable.... 37-0 is a must...

In his IU introductory press conference, DeVries talked about building a program with players who have the right motivation and enthusiasm, who fit together as a team, and who have a desire to be part of something special. In building that, he may start with some players he already knows and who already know him and his expectations - guys who can help shape the team culture and team expectations the way that the JMU transfers did in Cignetti's first year at IU. Maybe Enright is one of those guys. Isn't that a crucial aspect of transforming the program from what it's been to what many fans would like to see?

"We will know when we have made it when every time a fan, a booster, an alumni, or a former player comes to watch us play and turns on the TV, and after that game is over, that they are filled with pride because they have so much respect for how our team plays, how unselfish they are, the joy they play with, and the enthusiasm they play with and their love for this university."
