I can absolutely see Oats wanting that job. Also, and this would be so hysterically funny should it get rolling, this has always felt like the 1 college gig Donovan might seriously consider.

It has Oats written all over it if you ask me. Including the timing. He will kill it at Kentucky, if it happens. Go from winning to winning bigger. Must be nice.

Someone in our athletic department will hit the panic button, thinking UK will try to poach Woody, so we'll give him a four-year extension and jack up his buyout to $20M.

I guess I could see Cal leaving Kentucky.. After all, they're blue blood, and been down of late. Maybe time for them to make a change. Not sure Arkansas is the place, if the rumors of impending NCAA activity are true. But Cal is the guy to just deny, deny, deny and pick up the pieces.

Donovan would be hilarious to hear the whining from other programs that always pined for him, IU included. The games changed a little since he's been gone and the runway is short at UK,  though. Oats would be a helluva hire.  

 

At this point they sort of have to hit a grand slam like that or the options get narrow.

Everything college basketball site just posted confirmation of Cal letting UK know he is in negotiations with Ark. Maybe that's old and take it for what it's worth .

I think Donovan would be their #1 target. The NBA regular season ends a week from today and the Bulls are locked into the 9/10 play-in game meaning their season could be over a week from Wednesday. Failing to get out of the play-in round would mean 4 missed playoffs in 5 seasons for Donovan in Chicago. Tough to see how he survives that.

It makes zero sense. But, if Kentucky is looking for a new head coach it would be fun to see who they could get.

Kinda wonder if Beard turning down Arkansas was less “NIL stinks” and more “oh, Cal can have this one I’m heading to Lexington.”

You say Alabama losing as if they weren’t a double-digit underdog to the best team in the country? I thought Alabama put up a hell of a fight for about 30-32 minutes.

Ahh my fault, I thought you were inferring Alabama’s play was signaling the players knew Oats was leaving.

Kentucky seems completely blindsided by this however. Matt Jones who is one of the leading voices at Kentucky didn’t acknowledge these rumors until 20 min ago.
