Meant to post this here and not in the other thread: Hopefully Trey can tough this out and still play, if anyone missed the preview for BTNs thing on X, he is still hurt as well. He ended up messing up the ligaments in his elbow.

To give some hope that TG can play in the tournament....

Isaiah Swope, the pg for Indiana State hurt his knee in December to the point he will need surgery after the season.

He injured it again in February and will need a separate surgery on the second injury as well after the season.

He has continued to play. I think they mentioned it on the MVC championship game broadcast that he doesn't practice, but plays in the games.

Hopefully, Trey can play through this one as well.

IU has always been very tight lipped on injuries.  Unless a player is going to release the information on his own, I do not believe educational institutions can make any details of the injury public.

I know that very well my dad knows Dr. Rink and he never tells me who comes in for what because of course due to HIPAA he can't even if he wanted to.

So how does IUBB have 20 insiders for coaching changes but nobody can give some solid info on TGs injury!

I posted yesterday morning on another board that I had heard from a solid source that he was out for the season. Could be wrong, but the source is close to the situation.

Not sounding promising per Rabby

Can only hope it is a meniscus, 5-6 week recovery much better than ACL/MCL.

Had a QB I coach tore his meniscus mid-season this past fall. Was back playing in a post-season game 5 weeks later. If he can return to full contact football in 5 weeks, I have no doubts Trey will be fine. Just have to hope it is the best case scenario here.

Some can, yes. Others no.

TG didn't go through an MRI before he said that...

absolutely right, depends on the nature of the torn meniscus.

Minor example, both of my sons, one in basketball the other in soccer have had torn meniscus injuries in both knees. Both, as teenagers, required arthroscopic surgery, walking after the surgery - which is not very invasive, but both requiring multiple weeks before resuming sports activities.

Hell, Kawhi L lost last season in the playoffs because of a torn meniscus - 8 week recovery.

The idea people can just 'tough it out' ignores that that completely depends on the nature of the tear -- you don't screw around with your knees and basketball future.

Just relaying what was said from the guy himself. He made it clear that he was going to play. Now will he? who knows...I guess we will wait and see.
