Firing him midseason gives the program a chance to move on from a coach they clearly isn’t the right fit.   Team is still talented enough to make a run and  if it was the coach that was holding them back.  It would give the program a chance to salvage the season for the players.   Not happening but that would be the good I see.

Opposing team fans are making signs and chanting for us to keep Mike Woodson. 

He has a winning record overall, 5-5 in conference play.

Jim Larranaga took Miami to a F4 not long ago and was retired at the start of the season. 

We're not serious in the slightest way. We like internal politics too much at IU to get stuff done.

I understand that but most fans don't read message boards.  They could save themselves from the "Fire Woodson" chants at every home game the rest of the season if they just announced publicly that he is moving on after the Big Ten Tournament.

When Dusty comes to town, Dolson will easily be able to to gauge interest ... booing the Parasite King and cheering the Future King.

IU is not going to officially interview any single candidate currently under contract until the end of the regular season regardless if Mike Woodson is fired today, tomorrow, or at the conclusion of the regular season.

Need to announce it now to calm things down.  By waiting until the season is over you’re leaving the door open for something very bad to happen.  Will it?  Probably not.  But why wait if you know he’s gone?  That is malpractice to the highest degree.

Our basketball program is a five alarm tire fire with no future right now.

Scott and the powers the be are working on the coaching change, there is no way they cannot be.

Only question is when Mike gets fired, mid or end of season.  Probably end.

Yeah, he has a winning record at this point... at least on paper. He's 14-7 against a preseason full of cupcakes... lost 2 against B4A... and 5-5 against what's is largely the B1G bottom feeders... and it's about to get real.

Why? Tom Allen's fate was decided three weeks before it was announced and that turned out alright.

They may not “officially “ interview anyone. Doesn’t mean they won’t have conversations.

Feel free to skewer me, but I would take this entire team back with a competent coach. Every player on this roster has shown flashes of what they were advertised to be, they’re just being mismanaged at an unfathomable level. 

I've been thinking about that and I agree.

I'm definitely not trying to drag this out and sorry if it has already been officially established, but did she 100% say he is gone at the end of the year, or is it just assumed? Asking for a friend.

Didn't say it was good enough but show me where a coach was fired mid season with a winning record that didn't get fired for rule violations.

I’m not parsing anything. If you think firing Woodson today means Dusty May is going to officially interview tomorrow then you’re nuts.
