I've drank more in January than I did most of last year .... rough start!

I was on a bender from Thanksgiving to New Year. My liver is happy with me now but won't be for long

You have to be sober and watch Purdue obliterate this team? I'm pretty sure that violates the Geneva Conventions.

I quit drinking completely about 10 years ago so I've had to endure both Woodson and Miller sober. It's been rough.

Quinn Buckner's term on the IU board is over on July 1st.  I doubt he carries the weight he use to.....on a board where you may see 'group think' occur (sorry Kathy, no one buys into your thoughts that it doesn't) people often vote in fear of having their own pet projects tabled.  Buckner's unspoken threats don't hold much power given he's gone four months after bball ends.

I do think he has Pam Whitten in his corner, whatever that is worth!

It'd be worth a bit more if she came on here as pamwitten with a WH and expressed the considerable latitude Scott has to execute his plan.

I think Hornsby will be doing that at nearest watering hole as soon as he leaves work!    Also, I really really hope he doesn’t have a stroke before the end of the season, there is about 2 months left before D-day
No stroke. In fact I think Maryland can stick it to the king Sunday and the boo birds will be out in full force.

No thanks. I think if he gets year 5 I'm done even following iu anymore. I'd need to find a serious program to root for.

Well yeah they can lol. Our plan of letting shooters have good looks and hope they miss only works every now and again

I never would probably quit on iu but to say a year 5 would test that would be a understatement! I would love to get back to being excited for iu basketball again. The last 8 years have certainly gotten me used to watching us lose

Exactly!  I watched a film session on The Daily Hoosier today at lunch on all 27 of NW’s attempts!  Of the 27 attempts only about 5 or 6 were fairly contested and the rest were so open, that anyone on this board could have hit them.  Woodson is so delusional about his defense.  He actually said they played good D in the 1st half.  Of the 13 attempts only about 2 were fairly contested and defended, they just got luck and didnt make them.

Everyone was so excited to get rid of archie and start fresh. And then they hit you with the massive gut punch that they hired Woodson. I remember thinking it was a joke at first. I really thought it was satire

I see folks bemoaning the “optics” explanation. Let me simplify: IU is 14-6 (5-4). Illinois is 13-6 (5-4).

We all know Illinois is better right now, better coached, and so on. But be honest with yourself that the situation currently doesn’t look the same to a national writer/outsider/casual fan. And those things matter.

I tend to agree with you here on some level, but at a certain point "outside" optics need to stop mattering (though I could argue the booing, the bad losses, and the chants negate that argument entirely). The administration needs to be doing what is in the best interest of Indiana Basketball winning basketball games not worrying about if pundits think we fired Woody too soon. Our program is already embarrassing on a national scale, even debating the "optics" of firing a coach with his record simply reinforces the national narrative that we are not an elite program, much less a blue blood.

I believe stuhoo might have been first poster on here to mention his name in a coaching hire possibility list. I thought no way they would do that. Then it happened. I had my concerns but hoped he could use is fame to get talent and that would be enough. I believe howard was doing good at michigan at the time? I forced myself to have hope we could win on a cool laid back coach and talent. Nba connections like howard and others. Turns out coaching abilities matters. From now on anyone who says well he can't shoot for them or he didn't do that is full of it. It all starts in preparation for the season. Mental and physical abilities complimented by a good offense and defense to give them a chance. I am pretty sure woodson fails in all of those areas!

Woodson and QB (and probably others close in program) may be delusional but they are living the high life.

I'd think they make to much money to resort to High Life.

Anyone who has watched Woodson's teams realizes this. There's a reason that so many guards have amazing games against IU. It's like a game of H-O-R-S-E when they play against the Hoosiers, because they get so many wide open shots.

The games IU wins typically occur because those guards just miss those wide open looks. It doesn't mean that IU's defense was necessarily great - it just means that the other team didn't shoot well. But they still got good looks...

He also said just remember he went to the Sweet 16 to only get beat by Miami who was good that year.

The problem is Isiah that wasn't the Sweet 16

Still blows me away that we went from firing a guy who got 3 sweet 16's and 2 big ten titles in 5 years to defending a coach who's biggest achievement is almost getting to the sweet 16 once in 4 years.

Especially when the "almost" is a stretch.
