If IU comes out and is down 15-20 at half and loses by 20ish tomorrow night would that be the end…. To me if he lost by 20+ again I think it would be over.

IMO no, the earliest would be the Maryland game. They are not letting Mike Woodson go out like that in Assembly Hall. Nor should they.

IMO, if they are blown out by OSU, they may announce his retirement effective after the Maryland game either that night or on Monday. Now that they've had some time to work out the logistics of what an interim situation would entail, wouldn't need to wait for the NW game to make that announcement.

Maybe Woodson will get T’d up and ejected if they are down that much

I don't think booing players is the most terrible thing ever, especially when the effort is as lacking as it has been lately, but these are still young men at the end of the day and I have some sympathy for them particularly from a basketball perspective playing for Woody.

I was a dumb azz kid in college and I can't imagine how it would feel to have your own fans - 17,000 of them no less - booing you on your own home court. They're not exactly being set up for success either ...

Ideally, the administration is smart enough to do what it can to make sure this does not become a recurring theme at IU home games for an entire conference season. That is the sort of thing that IS actually toxic and would affect recruiting.

It can't become a regular thing. Pull the plug and make Maryland the last game Mike Woodson is on the sidelines.

I guess even at that age, I would take a little pride or be absolutely embarrased. Sometimes, you are just a bad team. Been there, done that. Went 2-19 my Junior year.. but we tried. We just weren't good and not a soul at varsity experience. This team though? Starting 3 5th year seniors right now? Yea, no excuse for the total lack of effort in games.

Yes, boo the lack of effort. It was deserved against Illinois.

Just a struggling team? Hopefully we wouldn't boo them at home... and I'm sure we wouldn't anywhere near the scale we saw vs. Illinois. Hopefully we get an interim coach and the effort is at least there consistently. Mike Woodson has been uniquely terrible for IU's fan engagement.

My opinion is he’s done no matter what. There is no way he’ll be on the sideline when Michigan comes to town.

When do you think something will be announced?

I really hate for the players to be individually boo’d like he was. Gallo in particular could have (probably should have for his career) transferred out, and seems to really love IU.

Unfortunately students do this stuff, and the writing was on the wall when Mike Woodson’s “Angels” as Doyle put it saved his job last year. As much as watching this team play basketball makes me want to bleach my eyeballs, I still feel bad for the kids— paid a bunch of NIL or otherwise.

I don’t! They are professionals now!  Put on your big boy pants and gain some thick skin!   Galloway’s play has digressed and he’s absolutely looked like crap the majority of the season.  He’s a 5th year player that has shown poor leadership skills!  Wasn’t he the one seems in the casino in the Bahamas instead of being focused on playing basketball.  If you absolutely cared about your coach and the university, you would be playing with more effort, focus, and efficiency.  I haven’t seen that consistently out of him or anyone else!

Really? So no halftime celebration where we tell the king he brought us back from the depths of hell.

It’s also COMPLETELY different in college. I don’t care that they are “NBA aged and getting paid.” There isn’t an NBA arena in use that compares to packed Assembly Hall except for maybe Boston or Market Square Garden(s). Getting booed by fellow students who you live in a small bubble with like BTown and are going to see around campus is not remotely similar to NBA players hearing from the crowd. Mike Woodson being a shitty coach and not putting them in a position to succeed is not their fault.

NBA arenas are libraries compared to AH with angry or happy students. And that’s before you get to the point that NBA DJs will drown out the crowd during play.

Again, I don’t blame anyone for feeling the opposite, and I 100% understand the sentiment, I just won’t agree to booing anyone but this coaching staff. I want the students to boo Woody everytime he stands up or is shown on the screen. Not Gallo being checked back in by a coach with stupid substitutions lol

I also don’t have an issue with general booing— I was more put off by Gallo getting booed specifically when he checked back in, or guys getting booed after misses at the FT line. I don’t wanna see guys booed checking in or out, or after missing a jump shot.

They all earned the halftime boos lol

Back on topic ... I hope we part ways with Woody before the next home game because I do feel bad for the players getting boo'd. The coaches on the other hand...

Some of their effort may warrant it to some fans, but it is a sorry sight to see kids (even if they're well compensated) have 17,000 of their own fans angry at them. Sad to see them hang their heads. That was the fans telling you to address the elephant in the room.

It's not going to get any better if they don't announce a change is coming at least at the end of the season. And at that rate... just let an interim drag this over the finish line.

You can't have another environment like that at Assembly Hall.

I’m sorry Dorthy, we aren’t in Kansas anymore!  They aren’t kids and they are now professional athletes!  Part of the territory if you are going to accept those escalated salaries.  Play with more focus, effort and efficiency on both ends of the floor, then they won’t get booed.  If they would have put forth the effort on both ends, win or lose, there would not have been any booing, IMO.  They were booing their lack of focus, effort and efficiency

Trey must have done something. Because the entire student section was in on it.
