If high school recruiting wasn’t still important then you wouldn’t see top programs with the top classes. Right now the top 5 classes in 2025 are Duke, Houston, UConn, Arkansas, and Kentucky. 

The portal is a good way to fill out your team. Using it to build yours each year is a big risk. 

And it’s not like Woodson has just completely sworn off high schoolers. They offered a lot of kids in the 2025 class. They just didn’t want to play here.

IU hasn’t played a tournament game since 2016 at the time Woodson was hired. Just stop.

Exactly.  And again, one of the advantages we have is a fertile recruiting ground, and we have to capitalize on that.

Yeah, because covid canceled the NCAA tournament in 2020 when IU was 20-12 and 9-11 in the conference, very comparable to the 20-13, 9-11 IU was in Woodson’s first season before the tournament. 

Woodson delivers marginally better results with enormous advantages no other IU coach had. Build the statue.

Again, stop. As far as expectations go…you, not me, made the ridiculous assertion that IU was in a better spot under Archie than Woodson.

Why do some posters insist on coming in the Fire thread and poking the bear?  It's a negative thread by definition.   Why would you expect anyone to come to Woody's defense in this thread?  IMO seems to be a pretty useless waste of time.  Posters who want to defend him -- we have a Do Not Fire thread which you can post in to your heart's delight.

This was never about job performance for some. This is retribution for the butt hurt “fans” who were told to chill out after getting worked into a frenzy over fabricated reports from Rabjohns, “insiders”, etc believing Bruce Pearl was coming to coach the Hoosiers. Nothing more, nothing less.

No absolutely not. This thread was cooking well before he said those things. The fans had all turned before he said that. That is why he said it. If he was a good coach the 99 percent of this fanbase would be in support! The team looks terrible alot and we lose alot. The combination of terrible basketball that is boring combined with getting our buts kicked is a bad combination!

What was their NIL budget in year 3 for those coaches?
