Why did your jaw drop when reading other BT coaches would do anything for IU to keep Woodson?  It wouldn’t surprise me if the other 17 schools offered to pay Woodys salary and give him a raise to stay.

My jaw would have dropped if other BT coaches wanted Woody to leave because they thought he was a great coach that got everything out of his players.  Now that would be shocking/jaw dropping.

I’m just shocked it’s come to that!  But here we are and Dolson tried to do something last year

I'd say that no player should ever have to tell the coach to go shake hands. The coach should do that just for being a decent human being - sportsmanship and all... but I guess there's room for a discussion about that, as well.

Man, could we just get one solid leak to confirm the light at the end of the tunnel? I am a first time season ticket holder and I was exuberant at the fact that I would be able to experience my first Purdon't game in person. Now I find myself questioning even going to the UCLA game with my wife for Valentines, because my son has to shoot at an archery tournament at 8am the next morning, is it worth it to barely get any sleep with the 1.5 hr trip home after the game and the 1.5 hr trip to the archery tournament. I have missed 4 home games this season, couldn't make it do to work (2 times) and a family events for the other 2. This is the first year, I officially don't have hope that the team can turn things around.
I would go if I had season tickets and was looking forward to it before the season started. There is no hope of turning this season around. The ucla game will probably be close. Possibly.

He was playing but it wasn't going well.  He's not a three point shooter and while he has a good mid range game, you can not simply be a mid range shooter in today's game and succeed.
Another case of woodsons poor eye for talent. He just saw a guy highly ranked and threw a bunch of money at him. Major downgrade from McNeeley

I would not want any of those guys except maybe cupps. It's time to start fresh.

I too want a fresh start. I don't like how Woodson kept too many Archie coaches/support staff and players around. Not saying all 13 players have to go, but it's not a bad thing if only a few guys come back. I honestly set the over/under at 2.5 players returning with a new staff.

Sorry, but that's baloney.  It isn't 'no player should ever tell the coach to go shake hands', it's 'no player SHOULD HAVE TO tell the coach to go shake hands'.  Dakich is just showing his own bias because he doesn't like Goode.

The problem isn't the inmates running the asylum.  The problem is that the inmates HAVE TO run the asylum because the wardon won't.

That I definitely see!  But in the end, the inmates are running the asylum and that’s on Woodson because he won’t!  I see your point

Some of you want guys like tucker and Carlyle back. But the fact is that are vastly overpaid and I'm sure a new coach isn't going to pay them what Woodson did. Are they willing to take a big paycut?

My guess would be no, however, is their lack of contribution due to lack of talent or lack of a HC/Staff? Take Bates for an example, 2 years removed he is the leading scorer on his SEC team. Or maybe  CJ or Banks playing well for their teams. We have a systematic problem here that starts and stops with MW.

Yeah but gunn and banks aren't big money guys. My guess is tucker isn't taking a paycut and will move on.

What kind of light are you looking for? If it’s just Woodson gone, I think we’re at the 95% confidence interval already.

If you’re looking for competitive ball the rest of the season, I’m guessing it will be here and there but mostly disappointing

Whoever the new coach is next year needs to get the ball rolling and get IU in the players era tourney asap.   It was a massive success and now for next year 16 teams will participate in it.  Double what they had this year.   IU won’t get in nexts years but they better start thinking ahead.    Auburn just dropped out of Atlantis to be in nexts years

The guys you went back with a new coach are clearly the guys who have some talent but have underachieve due to poor coaching. Banks, Bates, even Gunn to some degree all fall in that category. They are flourishing or at least performing way better than expectation based on what they did at IU. That is why for me I would like to see Mack and Rice return. I’m not saying I think they will. It’s just who I would like to have back.  Cupps seems like an old-school Indiana type player, but I’m just not sure he is good enough. Same with Tucker and Carlyle. Just don’t think they are good enough.  Reneau is the biggest question mark for me. Has some obvious talent, but his holes are so large. I’m not sure that I can see them getting fixed.

changing culture and cleaning house is important, but I also know that having a roster that is entirely new presents some other challenges. Having a little continuity helps. Given how bad things have gotten, I’m not sure anybody will stay unless we overpay like we have been doing.

Probably depends on:

1) our overall NIL pot

2) The coach

 3) The other options out there

For a guy like Tucker, I’m guessing he’ll get good money in the portal anyways. Do it’s just whether you think he’ll fit or not or if you want to pay that to some other guy that didn’t work out someplace. Kansas and AJ Storr is a good example of lots of money spent/received but both parties are probably worse off.

True. The portal moves quickly and they have a short amount of time to look into things before they commit. Even a little investigation should have given them some pause and maybe it did, maybe that is why we had to overpay to get everyone of our players, because they knew it was tough sledding. They just didn’t know how bad it really was

They should of look no further then Liam decommitting after our abysmal season.  He knew that Woody archaic offense wasn't there to get him shots.
