One thing we haven’t really talked about is how interesting things get at the end of the season if UNC is also looking for a coach. They’re sort of in a similar situation to us. Feels like they’d have first pick over us in the blue blood pecking order.

I can confirm that a couple trustees at UNC mentioned Brad Stevens independently from each other. Don’t know if it means anything just that Hubert Davis’s job is definitely on the line.

True, but it could be that a couple of the guys we want would prefer IU because they have ties here.

You misunderstood!

I am not rooting for a bad loss so that we can hear the chants.

But IF we are getting smashed I am perfectly happy with the fire MW chants.

To me it didn’t read like that!  I was just having fun with it!   I thought it was funny, lol

Feels like he rode fifth year guys Bacot and Love from the previous administration. Now that he’s working on his own the results are starting to show some cracks in his coaching abilities. The risks of hiring former players continues to rear its ugly head.

Probably, but the guy won the conference last year, was CCOY and went to the Sweet 16. If they get in this year, and I imagine that’s more likely than not, and then you cut him loose, there are gonna be some guys who don’t take their calls and some that do are gonna ask, “Hey, you didn’t support one of your own. Why should I believe you’ll support me?”, and that’s gonna be a tough question to answer. The contrast of the IU situation is that no one would be asking that. The issues are clear.

At IU, many prospective coaches would be likely intimidated by the hump... it's apparently daunting...

Crazy that UNC’s coach has two sweet 16s in 3 years, a title game appearance, a conference title, and a 71% winning percentage in the ACC and they want him gone.  Meanwhile we’re on pins and needles wondering if Mike Woodson will be fired when he hasn’t accomplished a fraction of what Davis has.

Just shows the enormous difference between IU and a real basketball school.

They are much more serious than we are.

Well we fired Crean who won two Big Ten Championships and made 3 sweet 16's in a 5 year span

I would not be surprised to see Kansas open too- Self and his health.

Sure, but (1) Crean has been here 9 years when we fired him and (2) when we fired him, he had one good year in the past four and had two missed tournaments. He also had ruined many recruiting relationships

Given our results since I wonder if firing him was the right move, but his tenure had run its course.
