He's free to criticize the coach and situation, express unhappiness, look for greener pastures next year, etc. And the coaches are free to bench him if they find out and don't like it. However, it should also trigger some self reflection when someone under your tutelage feels a certain way.

He’ll pop and energy drink right before the game and he was will make the energizer bunny look slow!
