I don’t know much about Jerrod Calhoun, but he’s only 43, very experienced as a head coach, and he won consistently at Youngstown State, which is absolutely no small feat.

@Uspshoosier and @johnsoniu… care to weigh in on him?

Yeah, Calhoun is interesting... how young is too young? Going from Youngstown State > Utah State > Indiana might trigger some culture shock...

I'm also a fan of McCollum... could see that happening... Brownell does NOT interest me in the least, and I know nothing about Jans...

Extremely uninformed conjecture on your part - Scott is the catalyst that can/will return our basketball program to its rightful place in the CBB universe.

A couple things.

Isn't yours conjecture?  Lol very ironic.

Dolson has a great reputation with some here.  But he's the boss who oversees this mess.  He needs to own this and be held accountable

Neither of those interim solutions worked well for us. Look at the landscape of college and pro sports and provide examples of interim coaches, appointed after a coach was fired for performance, succeeded. Ed Orgeron was hired at USC after Pat Haden blew out Lane Kiffin, but his tenure there was short-lived. Temporary fixes are just that - it’s baling wire and duct tape.

Paul Westhead and Dabo Swinney come to mind. Your excuses for not firing immediately, don't hold water. There is not one Fortune 500 company that holds on to an incompetent upper management employee until the next fiscal year.(unless there's corruption)

Not sure what your position is, or length of tenure is, but maybe you are part of the problem in the administration as well. Your "optics" argument is laughable and embarrassing.

He should be the boss, but he has not been that on the bball side yet.

What is it about Shrews that makes people in the slightest bit interested?

whoops just saw someone said the same thing. Still..

His ND team looks really bad this year

I hope that when Dusty brings his team to Assembly Hall, we don't chant his name.  He has his team doing so well, and I think he would be uncomfortable with that display.  I don't know his personality, but  he strikes me as someone who wouldn't enjoy that, and he would also have a hard time taking a job in conference after being in Michigan first.  I could see someone like Pitino or Calipari or Bruce being okay with that, but not sure about Dusty.

Indeed. Buckner neutered him with regard to the basketball hire.

I don't care if Stevens laughs and hangs up, he's always the 1st call imo. May #2. Mccollum #3. Not sure I can get excited beyond that point. Ya, I know, I need to be prepared for disappointment. I get it.

Yeah, prepare to be turned down, but you have to make the call. We could get turned down by #1 and #2... but you still have to call.

Curious about Will Wade. I know he has some baggage between LSU and McNeese State... but what's the consensus here? He seems to be a winner... and his transgressions do not appear to be in the same vein as those of the bearded one who shall not be named...

Are his transgressions enough to disqualify him?

Obviously I don't know if it's true.. just a theory.. but if Kathy is some sort of insider and she hinted at it in a response post.. it just makes me wonder if there's any validity..

Kathy may be an insider but she is nothing more than an IU board apologist.

Yes and RE #3 it will be interesting what his market is. That podcast linked earlier suggested he’d be a “perfect fit” at Virginia, then you have schools like Florida State and Miami coming open… and some seem to think he’s holding out for Iowa, which I personally don’t see other than him being from there and Drake being there. Not saying he is perfect but once you’re past the two home run swings, I think McCollum is worth taking the “risk” of a “relative” unknown. On paper, his pros seriously outweigh the cons and style is very enjoyable to watch. I’d be quite pleased to hire him… but he will likely have plenty of options too. Not sure who is on the “realistic” list and a clearly better option, though some probably exist I guess
