Fire (or Force 'Contemplated Retirement') Coach Woodson Thread

Why does Woodson need a body guard?

QB overruled Dolson to hire him. QB overruled Dolson again last offseason when Dolson was ready to move on.  Woodson had BoT protection and $6mm this year to build a roster.

Thats all gone now. Dolson can finally do his job.

Because he’s tired of making 1.5 million when he could be making 10 million in Bloomington

If Stevens comes here also it comes with exposure. He would be the face of the Big 10 especially when Izzo leaves. Big 10 network, cbs, fox does everything to schedule as many IU games as possible. Peacock would be a thing of the past.

I don’t think it’s about the money for Brad.

Also, $10 million living in Bloomington goes further than $10 million in Boston (if he was making that much money right now--which we know he is not).

I didn’t get to this board until after 9 pm tonight. You guys have no idea what it feels like to read through 85 pages of posts while listening on repeat to the only appropriate song to listen to when someone gets removed - the second half of “Layla.”

Yep... came in like 20 pages behind in the family room where the wife is watching "Married at First Sight".

I'm stuck in a drama crossfire.

I saw the Jerry post. Have I missed anything besides that? Y’all move pages at ridiculous speed

Not too much, he said he will share more later though. In the meantime, how ya feeling about his strong conviction that we’re getting our guy? I am ready to be hurt again

I’ve always thought there was a real chance. I’ve shared that many times. I think there’s lots of reasons and signs to justify it too

First, you guys are hilarious. Reading the pages I missed on a long travel day is great.

I guess I missed the chance to drop the bomb that coaches were informed yesterday that Woody is being retired. Better to come from established sources so those on this board who question inside info so diligently wouldn’t have to post responses. Should be an announcement officially tomorrow. Told it was supposed to happen today, but Woody is being difficult about ending the season - and some of that has to do with getting the most out of his contract. This all follows several weeks of work by Dolson, and his witnessing a fight in the locker room that had to be broken up, with an assistant coach yelling at Woody “this is why they’re firing you!”

Want to watch the women’s game now, so will save some additional nuggets for later. But Dolson is retaining a search firm just to check the box, but we’re getting our guy. Numbers have been discussed. I’d expect that to be announced after the season right before the tourney starts. I’ll add more later. Sorry my travel didn’t spring this last night before it hit the media but had some family things going on.

Things are about to turn around for IU and our fans in a big big way. Alright, go Lady Hoosiers!

Welcome back how was your trip to Mars? Did you say hi to Marvin?

I don't care if it's rampant wild speculation, I'm like a pig in mud.

So the day after the Purdue game, Dolson gets on a flight to the same airport the Celtics charter from, and spends an hour there talking to Brad and his wife. Dolson flies home in time for the women's game vs. Nebraska the next day and Brad flies to Philly the next day for their game. That was Sunday. By Wednesday evening, rumblings started about the "forced" retirement.

So where’s that Lafayette to Hanscom flight either late Friday night or early/midday Saturday? Because there’s no way in hell an NBA GM is taking a non-work trip five days before the trade deadline.

It’s been nice seeing the old posters posting more here lately.  Feels like old times. lol. Hopefully we all have some good times ahead of us this coaching cycle

It’s good to come back and talk IU sports and see some familiar faces. I’ve gotten the pleasure to meet some of you, and @Naturalhoosier and I have become friends because of these message boards. My wife and I had the pleasure of flying out to stay with him and his family for an IU football game. Very good guy.

Would love to do another board meet up for a football or basketball game.
